csheide Posted September 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2013 I have seen on these boards that the guides let you hold the monkeys and some other animals. Does anyone know if you have to pay for this or is it all included. Also can you take your own pictures if you hold them or how much the pictures cost to buy. thanks!!! thescot123 Posted September 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2013 The best thing that you can do is to contact them. Below is their website. They do mention a sea lion/stingray encounter. Which ranges from $15 to $25. The monkeys and other animals are behind cages. You can get up close to these cages. There is a monkey called George who comes up to the cage. Some people gave him some ice cubes which he was amused with. http://www.mayakeyroatan.com/en/activities/animal-rescue.html

Rare mitsugirly Posted September 13, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 13, 2013 Yes, they have a monkey that they walk around the beach area with and tell you the times that they will be in front of the little howler monkeys island (this is a small area right beside the beach and it has monkeys roaming free on this little island next to Maya Key) that they will have the monkey out for you to hold and take pictures with. I'm not sure if they take pictures and you have to buy them or if you can take pictures yourself. We did not go during that time, but he brought the monkey around for us to see. This is the little island that sets a few feet away from the beach area where a bunch of the monkeys roam free (you can see the snorkeling pier to the right of the picture) Monkeys in the trees Guy walking around with a monkey Friendly monkeys in the cages over by the animals
DancingInTheGWN Posted September 16, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 16, 2013 The cost is free/included and they will take pictures using your own camera for you. They do ask that you tip the animal handlers though (1$ a person; there were 3 workers when I was there a couple of weeks ago).
