CTnewcruiser Posted September 24, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2013 I've read lots of different reviews and it seems that everyone has a different opinion on what time to arrive to embark in NYC. I really want to get on board as early as possible, but with two kids don't want to spend more time than necessary waiting. If you've left from NYC, what time did you arrive and how long did it take for you to actually be on board?
Tithonus Posted September 24, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2013 I shoot between 10:30 and 11, and am usually on board no later than 11:30 -11:45.
irishnyc Posted September 24, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2013 We arrived just before noon and never stopped moving until we were on the ship. All lines moved quickly and our boarding zone was called before we finished checking in. Perfect for us and our impatient 3.5 year old.
nybumpkin Posted September 24, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2013 We usually arrive around 11. Even before we were Platinum we were usually aboard before noon. Don't arrive too early or you will be sitting around. If you're on the Splendor 8-day Caribbean, our experience with this cruise (2006 on Legend, 2009 on Miracle) is that the ship tends to arrive back at NYC a bit later than Glory arrives from the Canada run. On one of our 8-day cruises we didn't disembark until closer to 10:00 and there were a number of the next week's cruisers waiting on the pier. jaded99 Posted September 25, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 25, 2013 We've gotten there around 10:30 and been onboard in just over an hour. We've also gotten there at 3:30 (had to board by 4) and been onboard in 15 minutes. We arrived at 1:30 once (the time Carnival recommended) and we were standing in lines for 2 hours. Early or late are your best bets.
