A day in Cape Liberty before flight

We've got a 6:00 flight out after we debark in the a.m. Don't know the area at all and not sure that we want to spend the day waiting in the airport. Anyone got a good idea or two? Thanks.:)

Also try posting in the East Coast Departures board:

There are some folks there who are very knowledgeable about the local area, travel times to NY City, etc.

No offense to those in the tri state area, but there's not a whole lot to see in the garden state in the time you have allotted. Assuming you are leaving out of EWR, going into Manhattan would be a challenge, but not impossible if you check your luggage then take the air train from the airport into the city. You could always go stand by on an earlier flight or purchase a day pass at an airline club.

Go gators.

You can disembark early, take a shuttle or cab to the airport, rent a car, and drive back to Liberty State Park (see previous post about Liberty Science Center) and take the ferry out to Ellis Island and/or the Statue of Liberty. This will give you storage for your luggage and would be easiy doable with a 6 pm flight, but you'd have to get going in the morning.
