Nassau - Snacks & Bottled Water

Is it ok to take pre-packaged snacks and un-opened bottled water with us when we explore Nassau?

If the bottle of water was a reusable one or is opened, would that be ok? I can't remember what the actual laws are.

No opened food or fruits, of course, but since we'll have kids with us, I want to know ahead of time what I can take that they are familiar with. They like to try new things, but sometimes something familiar fits the bill.

Manufacturer sealed pre packaged snacks are fine as well as unopened water bottles. Reusable bottles can be confiscated if the agent deems it a problem. You can buy water on the dock for $1 or $2 for a liter.

There's a grocery store about a block west of the dock (Bayside Grocer).. plenty of snacks, fruits, juices, water and candy. Even sliced cheese and lunch meat if you need to make a quick sandwich.

Yes, as long as it's manufacturers sealed. I would think they would allow most anything, as long as you didn't bring it back in the US.

Thanks again!

I did find this link that is helpful.

The cruise lines usually sell bottles of water as you get off the ship. But it would probably be cheaper to buy it in town. We just walked into a nearby shop that was selling cold bottles of water for $1.

This is what our Cruise Compass said about taking food ashore (we were on Enchantment of the Seas):

Agriculture Law

Please be advised that absolutely no food of any kind may be taken off the ship and into our ports of call. Guest bags and purses may be spot checked.
