newsycruiser Posted October 16, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2013 We are contemplating an Embera river tour in February, 2014 but have medical concerns about the heat and humidity we might encounter on the river and in the village. Can anyone shed some light on what the conditions might be at that time of year? Thanks................
CruiserBruce Posted October 16, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 16, 2013 The same weather as all the threads asking about weather in the Canal. The Canal is a tropical rain forest, very near the equator. Rain is a possibility, although February is the relative "dry" season. Humidity is always high, relative to most people's home area. It can be warm, rarely anything resembling cool.
BillB48 Posted October 16, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2013 By February the Dry Season is normally well in place by then, of course there is always a "but." So here it is... there is always a chance of a stray shower, not a huge chance, but a chance never the less. As far as heat and humidity goes, you are choosing one of the better times of the year, the fact that you will be on the river or village will not affect the level of the humidity. In fact the ride in the cayuco (dugout) will be very pleasant and what humidity there is will only be a concern if you are doing something strenuous. If you are worried about the rain, you may wish to take along one of those inexpensive roll-up/folded ponchos. That would be more than sufficient to ward off one those stray showers.
