martin4356111 Posted November 1, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2013 Hi guys, I just wondered if anyone had any advice on a problem I have with MSC. I'm a member of the Air Force in the UK and used to be based over in the USA. When there, we had a travel agent who specialised in military cruises and was always able to get us a great deal on MSC. I'm now back in the UK and when I tried to use my old travel agent, he told me that sadly he couldn't book us on any MSC cruises as we were no longer US residents. So, I called MSC to find out if they did a discount for the UK forces. Their short and sweet answer was no! They do a discount for the US, Canada, Aussie and New Zealand forces but not the UK. Why are we so different? I've served alongside all of the above in Afghanistan so why do they get preferential treatment? I've emailed and facebooked MSC but I'm still waiting on a response. I'm really keen to cruise with them but I'm put off now by this. Its sill a good price for a cruise but its a matter of principal now. Am I being stupid and stubborn? What do you think about their policy? What should I do?
KSWind Posted November 1, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 1, 2013 I booked through the travel agency on Ramstein last summer but decided to book directly with MSC here in Germany for our spring cruise. I ran into trouble using the web site a couple of times because I am registered in the states and on the German site. Sometimes it boots me off saying I can't use the german site because I am from the US. Crazy. That said, I have never heard of a military discount, though I did not ask about one. I found little price difference from the travel agency booking on base versus doing it myself telephonically.
sidari Posted November 1, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 1, 2013 Martin ... Sadly you will find that the playing field is not level where crusing is concerned ! i doubt that the other cruise lines give the discount you asked about to UK forces/ex forces. martin4356111 Posted November 1, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted November 1, 2013 Hi guys, Thanks fo the replies. Surprisingly quite a few of the cruise lines (Princess, Cunard, RCI etc) do a military incentive, be it free onboard credit or reduced rates. Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and accept defeat :)
martin4356111 Posted November 1, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted November 1, 2013 KSWind I'd highly recommend speaking to Mitch at Military Cruise Deals. Such a nice guy. Just google the name and company. Sent from my GT-I9100P using Tapatalk
sidari Posted November 1, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 1, 2013 Martin .. I knew the likes of Princess did discount for USA military personnel but did not know they did for those from the UK.
