We are trying to deicde which excursions we should choose to see while in port at Costa Maya. Which would you recommend and why? Choccholan or Kohunlich ruins?

We just switched from Conquest to Liberty and will now go to Costa Maya. It is a fairly short stop but we want to go to one of the ruins and are interested in a comparison. Anyone been to both?

 

Also, a priority for one of my DD's is to climb a pyramid since it will be her first time at Mayan ruins. The rest of us have been to other sites. I want it to be a good site for her.

We just did Dzibanche with Native Choice Tours. It was AMAZING. We were the only 12 people at the entire site. They are still excavating actually.

 

Bring bug spray whichever one you chose, the bugs are the size of pterodactyls.

 

Dzibanche and Kohunlich are a long bus ride away, almost 2.5 hours, so be aware that it will be a long day and you may have only about an hour and a half at the site itself. You will also have only about an hour in port left too.
