Epic Review - November 16-23

SoccerSharon: We're on the Epic this Saturday and were told our cabin crawl cannot go to the Haven. But your cabin crawl did go up there, right? Strange.

We had roll call members who offered to show us their suite. They escorted us so we could visit the entire complex. It was outstanding, and we were all very pleased we could visit. If you have RC members staying in the Haven, visiting should not be an issue.

Have a wonderful cruise!

Sharon just finished enjoying your fantastic review which I stumbled upon by accident, well done! Dave and I sailing on the Silhouette at the end of January and we're both counting the days until some more Dorval cruisers can set sail. Here's hoping that our first large ship experience will be a good one too.

Hi Patti!

Fancy meeting you here! I know Dave is in countdown mode and I'm sure you are too :)

Have a great cruise. You'll have tell me all about your Celebrity cruise when you get back.

We HAVE to cruise together one of these days. Maybe we can convince more of our Dorval friends to join us ;)

Hope to see you soon :)

Hi BabsinTX!

We showed our Suite on the Cabin Crawl. I let the Concierge and Butler know we wanted to show our Cabin to some folks to make sure it was OK. They didn't seem to have an issue. I did a tour of the Haven for the folks on the crawl. I was always with them when they weren't in the Suite. I gave the Butler a heads up the 2nd day of the cruise and he came through with snacks in the suite; chips & dip, cheese platter, sandwiches, M&M's. It was very nice.

As long as someone in your crawl is in the Haven, I wouldn't think it would be a problem.

Babsin, we are on your sailing and staying in the Haven. If we take part in the cabin crawl we will definitely open up our stateroom if allowed. If not and we meet at the meet and greet I would be happy to show you around. Can't wait until Saturday!!!! It's hard to focus on work right now.

It was amazing to see how many french canadians were on our cruise. Over all the cruises I did so far, this particular cruise on the Epic was the one I had the most franco-canadians by far. We heard french speaking people everywhere.

Our next trip will most likely be the Sonesta Great Bay in St-Martin. After having some discussions with people that recently went to this hotel, it's now my #1 next destination. I like cruising a lot, but can't afford doing only cruises, it's too expensive compared to an "all-inclusive" resort. This trip on the Epic was by far our most expensive trip ever. Carnival tend to be cheaper, but I also did an upgrade that normally I don't do... I upgraded to an AFT-cabin because I was celebrating my sweet 40!

Thanks for the info! I'm setting up the cabin crawl for our roll call, and up until this point, we thought we couldn't go to the Haven.

How big was your cabin crawl? Ours is 34 people, so right now I'm planning to break it into two groups. Also, what day/time did you do the cabin crawl? I was holding off until I saw dailies - but I'll just schedule it the same time you guys did yours.

Thanks for the info. I know we have at least one in the Haven, and he has already offered up his Owner's Suite. Your info was passed on, so hopefully he takes the hint and lets his butler know that we'll have the munchies! :D

NO KIDDING! I leave for Miami tomorrow, so I'm really not doing much at work. No matter how much it's piling up, it'll be there when I return. :D

Have you made it over to our roll call yet?

Glad we could help! Our group was about 26, but I don't think everyone made it, so maybe 20?

We did our crawl on the last sea day, which is Thursday. We all met in the studio lounge for 11:00 am, and started from there. It was great fun, and we loved seeing all the cabins. Hope yours works out!

We're thinking the Sonesta Great Bay for next year too, although Sonesta Maho could also be fun! I have seen some great all-inclusive deals from Montreal, so will definitely keep my eye on them :)

Originally we were looking for the Sonesta Maho for 2014. So when we were in St-Martin I went inside the hotel but I was not impressed. We also sat on the Maho beach for the whole day and I'm not sure I want to hear those planes on a daily basis for a full week. Been there done that... I saw Maho, it was really nice but over crowded. After having discussions with people that went to the Sonesta Great bay, my decision is now made. This is the place I want to go... And they just completed major renovations in there and the comments on TripAdvisor are really amazing since it was renovated.

I really enjoyed your review, Sharon. Thanks for sharing. I'd say we're Carnival peeps, too, but we tried Sky in July and had a great cruise! We tend to go with the flow, too. I'm heading out on Pearl in Jan. for a girls' cruise and am looking forward to getting away from the cold for a bit. Glad to hear your mother is doing well. Merry Christmas to you!:)

Hi Heather!

Thank you!

We had a great time on the Epic, and I'm really glad we "mixed it up" a bit :) As I mentioned, I'd love to go to Bermuda on the Dawn. Our next CCL cruise will likely be on he Breeze in 2015, so anxiously waiting for those dates to be released :)

My mother is doing very well, and is pretty much back to her old self. Thank you for asking :)

Merry Christmas to you and yours...and go Habs, go!

I think you'd really like Breeze. The décor is so different from other Carnival ships and we never noticed crowds at all. We did the 6-day and that just wasn't enough to see and do everything. Guess we'll have to sail again some day. Bermuda also sounds like fun.

Yeah, yeah, it's tough to be a Sens' fan these days!:rolleyes:

Thanks for your insight, Heather. She looks like a beautiful ship :) 6 days on any ship is definitely not enough!

Hey Sharon!! What a great review. It was nice to see your perspective being that you usually travel with Carnival (like we do). We currently have group space held while we are trying to decide if we want to go on the Getaway or not. NCL is unknown to us, so of course, we are a little shy with changing, but we want to do something different. Loved your pictures!!

Hi Stacy!

Thanks! Not too shabby for my first review, right? :D

I say go for it! It's good to mix it up a bit. I liked feeling like a newbie again anx I found more similarties than differences.

What are your Getaway dates? She looks like a gorgeous ship.

Keep in touch!

No problem! With Brent and I both in school (he will be in his Masters division classes by that time), it is the only time we can get away. It was Christmas week, New Years Eve week, or that week. Holiday time was just too high, so it left the one we booked. lol

The prices are crazy around the holidays! Only problem for me and dates after the holidays is pulling my son out of school for a week. Not sure he'd want to catch up when he went back :) We did that once (for both kids) and they both told me never to do that again...lol!
