minniem64 Posted December 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2013 If we dock at Curacao at 2:00 pm would we be able to visit a beach for a reasonable amount of time? We would like to take a taxi to a nearby beach and spend as much time as possible there before it gets too dark and or dangerous and be able to get a taxi ride back. Any suggestions? Shutterbug999 Posted December 29, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 29, 2013 Plenty of time to get to the beaches and back If you go East - towards the sea Aquarium - there is a line of lovely sand beaches - it is built up with hotels behind - but has shops /promenade /safe swimming etc - each hotel names its beach diferently but they are all one long beach ~ 20 min away dep on traffic West - If you want more rural setting, palm trees, reefs to snorkel , lovely cafe you can't beat Porto Marie- there is small charge for a sun bed ~ 30 min away Previous posts have mentioned what people have paid to get there Beaches normally close at 6pm - but your taxi driver will come and pick you up - very safe driving around at night - don't worry about that
OCruisers Posted December 29, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 29, 2013 When we have a port stop in Curacao with a 2 o'clock arrival which means we won't get off for another thirty minutes, it never seems worth the effort to go to the beach. Shutterbug999 Posted December 29, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 29, 2013 LuLu There is so much to do walking from the Cruise terminal - if you are not a 100 % beach person - take the time to wander round Punda and Otrobanda - there are really good free maps at the far end of the floating bridge - at the tourist info booth - they even have walking tours in them. Go to a beach on another stop sunset and dusk are great around the floating brodge

We never a problem finding things to do in Curacao when it is inconvenient to go to the beach. Hopefully, the OP won't either. LuLu ~~~~
