Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on 2-3 bedroom apartments for a weeks stay in Melbourne for up to 7 people. We don't need luxury just somewhere clean and close to town. Thanks for any help you can give.:)

Just come back from our cruise today - stayed at the Alto in Bourke Street - had a two bedroomed apartment - they do three bedroom apartments - price was excellent - the free tram stop is right out the front door - as are all the other tram stops - Southern Cross Station 100 metres down the road - excellent spot. Here is the link: http://www.altohotel.com.au/ good reviews on trip advisor as well. Hope this helps

We stayed at Docklands in April, and it is so noisy with the construction works, and many of the cafes/restaurants were empty/vacant. It was fantastically close to Etihad Stadium, but we were not thrilled by our 2 bedroom apartment, as we expected better for the exorbitant rates you get charged, and the lack of facilities. Many of the apartments there are privately owned, and managed by apartment management companies that have an office in a different building.

The construction noise starts at 7am, so it depends on what your schedule is. At least it was quiet at night when you were away from the tram facing apartment. We stayed in a 1 bedroom for a couple of nights and the squeals from the trams going around the corner were crazy.

That is why we have been addicted to cruising lately. We find land based accommodation to be very expensive and very focused to travelling business people.
