ssgosnell Posted January 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2014 My daughter will turn 18 the day before our cruise on the Oasis. May she participate in any teen activities or will she be on her own to meet others her age?
Carolin Posted January 15, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2014 She will not be able to participate in teen activities. They don't really have anything structured. There will probably be a meet up for adults 18-20. She might meet some people at that.
paul929207 Posted January 15, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2014 Some ships have a get to gether for 18 to 20 year olds. Check the daily schedule. You or your daughter may want to join the Roll Call and ask there if there are any passengers her age
ehfl Posted January 15, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2014 There are meetups and parties for 18-20s. You can, of course, always add your own events to the bulletin board.....try planning a pizza party by the pool, or an ice cream party on the Promenade and see who shows up. Buck Turgidson Posted January 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) We used to go during spring break and my son would always find plenty of friends. There were a few hundred kids on those cruises. He never attended any ship organised itinerary. Tinkerdevil Posted January 23, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 23, 2014 When I was on Allure I was 21, having just graduated from college. They did have organized '18-20' activities, but our organizer was 25 so he encouraged anyone up to 25 to join in. It was lots of fun and I met some good people. They had a meet and greet the first night in the night club. Also had events in different venues including some time for just our age group on the flowrider. We spent most of our nights in the nightclub dancing and having fun.
kitty9 Posted January 24, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 24, 2014 How would she go about organizing an event? In all honesty, "events" are organized by the entertainment staff, and rarely by passengers. The only time a passenger might organize something, it's usually a religious service. She could talk to the head of the entertainment staff to see if they would organize something. Another consideration is when you're cruising and on what ship. Certain cruises and cruise lines tend to attract more persons in your daughter's age group, and some cruises will have a much older demographic. Unfortunately, the 18 to 20 age group is severely under served on cruise ships, probably because they generate very little income, in terms of alcohol and gambling, than older cruisers do. And that's really sad because they are the cruisers of tomorrow.
