Cruising On New Year's Eve

We just came off of NCL Jewel on the New Year's cruise out of New Orleans. There was a big New Year's party on the pool deck and in the Spinnaker lounge, and of course there was partying going on all the other bars...but that's pretty normal any night.

they distributed a free glass of champagne-style wine in a couple of places. Just before midnight, the Captain came on the PA with his New Year's greetings, and then counted down the seconds until midnight, at which point they blew the ship's horn for a few seconds. That was it!

We have been on Dawn for the past two New Years sailings. This year was not the best. The ship was more too crowded; we never did get into the MDR due to the LONG waits.

The celebrations were as described on the prevous post. The pool area was ground zero with small glasses of free champagne.

It was OK; we are rethinking this year.

We have sailed on other lines for New Years; one of the best was off the Bahamas where the captain sailed the ship off the Florida coast and you could see fireworks up and down the coast.
