  1. I did not want to recommend any one resort as you were looking at all options. DH and I have been to Maya Chan 10 times? We had a funny ceremony with David for our 5th visit. Time goes by and all I can say is that we have never gone anywhere 10+ times. Read all you can and it is all good. Make reservations as due to Covid, they are reducing their daily numbers. You can enter "Maya Chan" in a search engine or any other resort and read what they provide. We will hopefully return in February. Enjoy Costa Maya!
  2. Coveguy4-We had the same type of experience on Regal. Great lounge with a low volume wedding chapel😆. Concierge was lovely and she was so into the holidays and really loved decorating her office area in the lounge. Happy memories and the best Christmas cake ever.
  3. Once you leave the port area (and we run through quickly as it is a tourist trap), there are taxis for rent, and you can rent all kinds of interesting vehicles. There are several popular all inclusive resorts that are reasonable in price, serve good food, have beaches and are worth looking into. Many provide transportation that is included in their all day fee. It depends on many factors, but this coastline has an issue with sometimes dense sea weed aka sargassum. That clouds the water. But, there are times when you have clear, lovely water. No, it is not the Caribbean but still has great features. We have been there likely 15 times since the area was developed by the Mexican government. Do not let negative posts influence you. Research the area and look for opportunities to see the area. I hope you enjoy your visit and wish we were going too!
  4. Strange- We sailed Regal in early January 2019 and were invited to a suite Cocktail Hour by the concierge. It was quite nice with the usual tasty treats and drink offerings. Wondering why this now seems to be a new feature? We had a suite directly across from the lounge so it was very convenient.
  5. Geoherb-Thank you for a wonderful "live" of your Majestic sailing. I am sure you do not remember us, but we sailed with you and DH on Caribbean Princess. Spent many early evenings enjoying Skywalker's. You were both so well traveled and glad to share your own experiences. I am always glad to read of your ongoing travels. Safe travels and please let DH we remember him (and you) despite the passing of time.
  6. Wherever did you find that report? I was just on National Hurricane Center and Costa Maya is not at risk.
  7. You are also talking about a Monday with port +commuter traffic. We have sailed out of Tampa many times and two ships in port (you have Connie and Carnival Paradise. Why risk it and just take a later flight?
  8. If you put Blue Lagoon Costa Maya into a search engine, there are many reviews! Carnival has a posting with resort pics and reviews. Other reputable sites also provide substantial reviews for you to consider. From a quick look, it looks good to me, but that is your call. Have a great time!
  9. And Celebrity Edge is on their way to Costa Maya and should arrive tomorrow. Odd, this OP provided information not seen previously. The Edge sailing is featured daily on TV with a CBS anchor onboard reporting.
  10. CILCIANRQTS posted this link about the planned future major renovation to the cruise port area: https://thekingdominsider.com/nassau-bahamas-is-getting-a-big-transformation-here-are-all-the-recent-details/ Bird travels is posting a Live From Nassau and I read those shops were torn down in anticipation of the port expansion.
  11. Bird-Great live posting on your part. Thank you for taking precious time from your cruise to share so much with all following this sailing- hopefully one of many to come. Enjoy but know all you share is much appreciated. Watching the ship's departure was special, even though we have sailed in and out of Nassau so many times. I hope their economy builds back and they do receive vaccines donated by the US. Happy sailing to you and all on AOS.
  12. The Maya Chan website https://costamayabeachresort.com/ provides information on changes made to respond to the Covid threat. They have been working to ensure they passed the Q Roo Certification to allow the resort to accept guests. The site says they are "ready to welcome you home"! Why not email them about your plans for August and November?
  13. Tea Bag- I need to comment on your post about McD's wondering what happened to you etc. It follows right after Ellie's which has brought me to tears. Ellie just posted on the horrific events that took place on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. Need I repeat the horrible awful loss of life and limb that took place? You follow with your McD entry. I have difficulty understanding a post on Mc D's to follow a dramatic description of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. I would expect more. Maybe you missed the tattered flag and statement on the resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain. Need I say more?
  14. Ellie-My choice is one of your exotic leis, made from Fiji orchids. I plan to wear the lei while skating in my kitchen throwing pancakes in the air. I have your vacuum cleaner from the previous virtual and it is used frequently. I will also use it to swoop up the pancakes on the kitchen floor!
  15. This song was the theme song from Pippy Longstocking sang by Rachel Laderoute, among others. I liked one of the following verses: I could skate around the kitchen and throw pancakes in the air. Sounds like fun!
  16. We are ready to board and so looking forward to this cruise. First up is to have a lovely lunch and plan the rest of the boarding day. Maybe we will meet up at muster drill!
  17. I am sad to see what passengers are served on these long flights! The airlines seem to plan how to provide the cheapest slop to serve and people are on these planes for hours. Wow! So sorry you had to look forward to at least basic edibles and were served such inedible meals. No one should have to pay business or first class to have a decent, tasty meal. When we fly (granted not for this length of time), we bring food onboard to avoid what little is served. I wonder if they fed the captains of the planes this same fare, how long that would last 😝 Better yet, the airline Presidents!
  18. Ellie- So excited to find your new thread! I packed well; have hopefully not forgotten anything. We booked a mid ship suite and look forward to visiting the Concierge Lounge. Having never been to Hawaii, this will be a new adventure. I continue to be amazed at your incredible recall and that you can support your adventures with pictures. You must be incredibly organized! Looking forward to your posts with your excellent photos. It is also great to read the enthusiasm of other posters who look forward to this new adventure. So glad you decided to write this virtual!
  19. I am set! Bags packed, passport ready along with cruise documents. I have always wanted to go to Hawaii and cannot wait for our ship to sail. What port are we leaving from?
  20. How adorable! It looks like your special baby is enjoying Christmas with that Pinata.
  21. Ellie- I am a died in the wool animal lover. Used to have dogs and loved each. Life changes and I found my first stray kitten many years ago. She was the first of many loved kitties to share my life. One special kitten's name was Lou. I found him in a shelter and he was a sweetie. When I joined CC, I used his name "Loucat". I lost that little creature in 2008, 3 years after using Loucat as my handle. I often think I should change as it still hurts to remember him and what he gave as a young cat. Thank you for asking. You are the first person who ever asked about Loucat. Diane
  22. Thank you Ellie for this wonderous journey! I look forward to your next virtual for sure.
  23. Ellie-We are all here and you are not talking to yourself! I find it amazing that you have such recall, organization and knowledge of the areas you detail. So interesting! Have you ever posted a "live from" during previous cruises as this journey is exceptional and so valuable to all of us.
  24. Ellie- I feel as though we have gotten to know you through your detailed and informative posts. I share the feelings of others who have read your virtual cruise who will miss seeing what comes up next. Great photos, depth of sharing your knowledge and opened my eyes to a new world with lots to experience. I am not sure what you have planned going forth, but we are all here ready for your next adventure. Thank you and safe travels.
