towel-animal Posted January 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2014 Solo traveler on NCL in March, and interested in the Dune Buggy Safari & Beach excursion. Has anyone else done this as a solo? Only reason I'm interested in it is to get to drive the buggy and I fear being paired with another family and ending up the passenger. How likely is it they would give me a buggy to myself? Rare crewsweeper Posted January 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 29, 2014 Not sure how NCL pairs people up. But I have seen solos on the dune buggies when they roll down the malecon. You should go ahead and sign up in advance. When you board your ship, go to their shore excursions desk and ask them how many people have signed up thus far and how many dune buggies are available and about the cancellation policy without penalty. This will give you a sense of # per vehicle. Check back the day before you're scheduled for CM and see if the count has changed. Make a decision to go ahead or cancel, if it looks like you might get paired up at that time. Once you meet the tour operators, ask them if they have a single buggy available or try to pair yourself up with others who may not want to drive. Typically the actual pairing is done at the site not assigned before hand, and the operators are flexible about who rides with who so long as an experienced driver is driving. dredawg Posted January 30, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 30, 2014 Looking to do this as well. You are allowed a single rider but they told me I'd have to pay for both seats if my son was going alone. I wondered if anyone knows if it was standard or automatic??
