cruise New Zealand only

I am looking for a cruise around New Zealand which does not go to Australia. Does such a cruise exist?

I suspect a market comprising of New Zealanders and fly-in tourists would be too small to sustain many NZ-only cruises. By starting in Australia many cruisers don't have international airfares to worry about, plus Australia has a bigger population base to draw from.

Do any cruises, ex-Australia, allow passengers to embark in NZ for just the NZ component of the cruise? That would probably be the only option, if available.

Princess do offer a limited number of cabins for an Auckland to Auckland cruise, but that goes round NZ, to the usual ports and then heads off to either Sydney or Melbourne. In reality it is a Syd or Melb return cruise that goes round NZ and when they run 2 , one after the other , can offer a back to back from Auckland.

If an overseas visitor wanted a NZ only experience , they would be better off doing a land only tour .

I would expect that it would be a more comprehensive way to see NZ, but some prefer to cruise and only unpack the once. If possible, the getting on and off in NZ may be more appealing to that crowd, but cost wise it may make the cruise too expensive.:D
