CruiseDude_83 Posted February 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2014 I am looking at cashing in my RCCL visa points and had a big question! What is the most points that you have ever cashed in for one cruise? I have over 200,000 that I was looking at applying to one vacation. I searched the threads and saw quite a few people use the 125,000 points for the free OV for 2 on a 7nt. I was looking at spending much more towards the overall cost (275,000 for $2,750 off). I would do the 125,000 but it would only take off $2,025 off the cruise and I can't add the cruise discounts to the "free" cruise when using the visa points. Just trying to figure out the best use of points and to see how many points others have used at one time for a single cruise vacation. cflips7 Posted February 10, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2014 Use the 125,000 for the free cruise and then use the rest for onboard credit. You can have a blast on board and not cost a thing.

I have driven myself crazy calculating the dollars of a cruise versus paying for it and getting OBC blah blah. do the above and you will be happy. I have done the above twice and it was worth it each time and only spent a few bucks on the way out the door.
papaflamingo Posted February 10, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2014 I use my points for OBC. I figure that 125,000 for an outside cabin equates to $1250. I can usually get a better deal. But 50,000 for $500 OBC seems better for me. My last cruise, I had a $100 OBC, added $250 from Visa points, and my final bill was $138.
