MikeNKim Posted March 8, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2014 DH and I are planning on renting bikes to tour around Barcelona on our first day for 1 to force ourselves to stay awake after a transatlantic flight and also to get a lay of the land before we spend the next few days touring. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any company you might recommend? Thank you

4774Papa Posted March 11, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 11, 2014 Be careful. DW and I are avid cyclists. The way the people drive in Barcelona, I would not want to ride on the streets.
suec12 Posted March 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 24, 2014 You might want to see if there is a Fat Tire / Mike's Bikes tour available - we did that on one trip - the shop / assembly point is between El Born and Las Rambals - I assume they would rent bikes too. Another trip we rented bikes at a shop near the water and rode thru the park and along the beach promenade. The thing is, there are alot of pedestrians. I could not believe on the organized ride, some of the throngs we rode thru and when we were down along the water, at some places the bike lane was packed with people (esp. on a weekend). So its doable but if you're sleepy....I pity the people in the path in front of you.
SunshineAndWine Posted May 20, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 20, 2014 I did a bike tour earlier this month with Gaston at Barcelona Experience. Great bikes. Really sturdy and fun to ride. They had seven gears...that helped at times Plus, they're folding bikes, which was kind of fun. He rents the same bikes I rode...check them out. http://www.barcelonaexperience.com/bike_rentals
