US Cellular cell phone service

Hello,

 

We are cruising on the Golden Princess to Alaska in June. We have US Cellular. Does anyone know if we will get service in Alaska while in port? We would like to be able to call home to check on our son who is staying with grandparents. If cell service is bad, does anyone have any other suggestions of how to stay in contact with home?

I have phone card from my phone company that lets me call any where and charge it to my home phone. I would check with your cellphone provider and see it they have service in Alaska . If not they might have a US roaming plan that lets you call home .

All Alaskan US ports...cell service is free. I always turn the phone off while sailing. Well atleast mine was..TMobile

For a truly accurate answer, call or stop by a US Cellular location. Their 'coverage map' isn't promising for Alaska, but they may have agreements with other carriers.

We have been to Alaska five times. We have ATT and service has been excellent in all ports.

Thanks for the replies everyone! If we find we don't have good service, could we bring a calling card (I don't even know if they make or sell these anymore, haha)?? Just wondering if there would be phones to use somewhere in the ports even if we have to pay to use them?
