Another Red October question: Dinner

Recommended Posts

My wife and I are booked with RO for our excursions in St. P in a few weeks. We have decided to go to the ballet one evening and are going to stay in town for dinner rather than trying to come back to the ship between our daytime excursions and the ballet in the evening.

RO has recommended a restaurant called Demidov's for dinner and has suggested that we use one of 12 preset menus to expedite the process.

Has anyone used this restaurant with RO? If so, how was the food and atmosphere.

If anyone was offered this restaurant, but chose to eat dinner elsewhere with their RO guide, what suggestions do you have.

For a city like St. P, we would much prefer a small, romantic restaurant (with a view over one of the canals??) over a more formal hotel-type restaurant. Maybe Demidov's fits the bill -- just not sure.

Thanks.

We too are touring with RO and are staying in St. Petersburg. We did choose Demidov's for dinner after checking it out in some of our books. It sound great. It should fit the bill of ambiance and food quality. When are you going to be in St. Petersburg? We will be on the Star Princess and in St. Petersburg August28-29. :)
