Anyone cruise on the MArch 1999 and 2000 (I think?) Enchanted Isle when the celtic bands were playing? It was a great time! I miss that ship!

Yes, I was on in March 2000, and I remember those bands. They played some good music. The only name I can remember was one called Six Mile Bridge. It was a fun cruise, and the weather was perfect. The ship was not as fancy as the others I've been on, but it was a good value for the price we paid. Getting to see the parades in New Orleans for Carnival before the cruise was fun too. I'm glad I got to see New Orleans before Katrina. Overall, that was a good trip. I was sorry to read that the ship was scrapped.

My first cruise was on commodore! I dont remember the boat we were on, but i know it was retired directly after our cruise...

It was wonderful despite all of the mishaps and misfortunes we had along the way!

I sailed on the Enchanted Isle in March of 94. Despite her age She was a fantastic ship with great lines and a happy crew. I know she had some faults, her shuffle board deck area was so warped it made the game even more fun. The a/c went out for a couple days, so we improvised by prying the bolts open on our porthole windows. A casino so small I thought I was ina closet. She did however have some pluses; Our cabin was the largest twin cabin I have ever seen. I am talking massive..Easy 20' x 20'. Again, the crew was fantastic, attentive, & fun loving.

I was saddened the day she was sent to the breakers. I am when any oceanliner makes her last port of call.

My very first cruise was on the Boheme with my mother and grandmother. We went to Key West, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. I was 13 years old, and even though they didn't really have lot for kids/teens to do the way ships do now, I loved it. We also stayed in a "suite" that was probably more like a normal outside room (not even a balcony) by today's standards.

I thought it would be the start of a lifetime of cruises. Little did I know, I would end up not taking another cruise for over 20 years! But I am trying to make up for lost time. :)

Our very first cruise was on Commodore's Enchanted Isle. It was Nov 1998 and was the Zydeco cruise out of New Orleans! My wife and I dressed as Annie and her dog Sandy in the on board 50's and 60' Lip Sync Show and sang Tommorrow! What a time. I'm looking at the daily "Whats Up" and it shows the drink special: '57 Chevy $2.25! What a price. And remember.....Bon Appetiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit :-) haha

I was cleaning up the other day and realized I kept everything....like EVERYTHING from that cruise on the Boheme in 1986...luggage tags, flyers for jewelry stores in Cozumel and Grand Cayman.

Of course I have the daily bulletin from each day- I could scan a couple and post the links here for people to see if anyone's interested in seeing some old relics.

We have always wondered what happened to the Commodore line. So sad to hear about the Isle. We compare almost every cruise we take to the Isle for service. They worked so hard to make sure everything was perfect. If you put a drink glass beside you on the deck, you'd better be sure you were finished because it disappeared immediately if you left your seat. On a Celebrity cruise a few years ago the staff was arguing over who had to take the towels to the laundry. What a difference.

Please...any info......I cruised on the M/S Boheme 3 times in the late 70's. The dining room was always the same....Paris. The matradee was IVO PAPA. He was there the first two times but was gone by the time I cruised in 79. Does anyone know what ever happened to him????? I do have a few pics that I could scan, but with that name, you probably don't need the pic. He was about 35-40 at the time so would be close to 70 years old. I would so love to find this man. I was a teenage at the time, but he was so so very kind to me

I do the exact same thing. As much as I like cruising Carnival nothing compares to the crazy games and the tears from excessive laughter I experienced on the Isle.

My first cruise was on a March break trip on the MS Boheme in 1980. I remember St. Patrick's Day onboard. Billy was our waiter and he wouldn't bring me dessert unless I ate my vegetables. Of course, I left my veggies just to get him to cajole me. (I love veggies.) I had just taken a German language course in school, so spoke with the captain and he taught me to play backgammon. He also spent some time swimming with me on a shore excursion.

The itinerary was supposed to be Miami to Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, San Juan, and Cap Haitien; but Haiti had some political unrest so we redirected to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic.

I will forever be comparing every trip to that first one.

Thank you for this thread. It has brought back some really great memories.

Added: The captain told me MS Boheme operated as an overnight car ferry between Maine and Nova Scotia during the summer. I haven't found any confirmation of this.

Our very first cruise was on Caribe 1, and it was during the Gulf War and after the horrid attack on the Greek ship where the man was tossed overboard in a wheelchair. all cruise ships left the Med and came to Caribbean and were begging for customers. We had heard that cruises practically were being given away. We could only afford a Class G rate, and called Commodore directly and asked: what can we get for that rate? The gal said, How about a Class A? We ended up in a suite in the old first-class section (when it was an trans-ocean liner) for $250 pp for the week. It was an absolute fantastic cruise, and very few passengers discovered the bar in the old first-class area, so we basically had a private bartender, who knew just what to pour whenever we dropped in. That ship, trip turned us on to cruising as favorite vacation from then on. Thanks for prompting the memories!

We went on our first two cruises on the Enchanted Isle, 9/96 and 5/97. Like the rest of you, we have such wonderful memories from those cruises. We all had the unforgettable experience of sailing on a classic cruise ship! The Isle was not very big, but she was very beautiful. As has been said, the crew was so attentive and friendly. Do any of you remember Ceasar, the dining room waiter and Aldie, the cabin steward? They were our waiter and cabin steward on both cruises. They were both outstanding. We do remember the delicious bread pudding! Do any of you remember the Green Goddess salad dressing? We were seated at a large table on both cruises. We all fell in love with that dressing. We all would ask for it on our salad. At least once, they had to go back to the kitchen to refill their container, to dress all ten salads! I also wish that I knew the name of a dish and recipe for a warm pasta dish with penne, olive oil, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, and artichoke hearts(I think) served at lunch. Yum! We have sailed on Carnival many times since 1998, and enjoy it very much. However, Commodore Cruise Line and the beautiful Enchanted Isle will always have a very special place in our hearts. Thank you for sharing your memories with us.

Caribe was my second cruise ever, in 1986.... It was the funnest cruise I ever had. We had a group of about 30, it was my girlfriends 1st cruise, she roomed with 3 older women! We stayed out dancing until the wee hours of the morning. We even won the dance contest, lol.... We married the year after and we continue cruising, together, almost 25 years later!

I used to play in that band (flute, whistles, bagpipes, vocals) and that was the only cruise that I've ever been on. We all had a great time and I can't believe it's been 10 years! I was searching around looking for information about the Commodore cruise line since I hadn't heard anything from them in a while. Now I know why!

Man...this was a great thread to get my memory sparked. If Commodore was still around, I think I would never have taken another line! I loved them. Nothing really compares to the intimacy of those ships. I felt like I knew everyone there, passengers and crew included. Does anyone remember Gigi, Mars, Samuel, and Leo? What a great bunch of people. The food...my goodness, I haven't had that wonderful of a culinary experience since....
