Copenhagen help please

Recommended Posts

This will be our 2nd visit to Copenhagen and have already done many of the sights.

We will be on Crystal Symphony July 14- I believe Langeline Pier.

We would like to go from pier to train station and travel to Malmo

Which train station and how far from the pier?

After we return from Malmo - we would like to go to Torvehallerne-

How would we get from the train station to Torvehallerne-

Any info is appreciated

Your ship will be docked at Langelinie Pier from the 13th to the 15th of July.

But to answer your quetions

You simply just walk to Østerport station or take bus 26 towards Ålholm at get off at Østerport.

https://www.google.dk/maps/dir/Langeliniekaj,+2100+K%C3%B8benhavn/55.6920136,12.5874243/@55.6950932,12.5902179,16z/data=!4m9!4m8!1m5!1m1!1s0x465252dd08649a7d:0x4e7b478417fecaf!2m2!1d12.60018!2d55.6967145!1m0!3e2

From here the Øresund train for Malmø departs at XX:01 towards Kalmar, XX:21 towards Göteborg and XX:41 towards Karlskrona/Kristianstad

A single ticket costs 88 kroner but if you are 2 persons (and 3 childrens) a oneway Øresund Familie ticket cost 144 kroner.

Torvehallerne is located next to Nørreport station and is open from 10:00 to 19:00.

Hello Danish Viking,

We will be debarking from a Princess cruise on May 12 at Oceankaj terminal. Our plan is to leave the ship around 9 a.m. and take a taxi from the Oceankaj terminal to Hilton Copenhagen Airport hotel. If it is too early to check-in, then we will store our luggage at the bell desk. We will be staying for only one night. Our plan is to DIY from 10 a.m. to about 7 p.m. We visited Tivoli Garden years ago on a land tour, so we don't plan to go there again. We would like to visit the following places if it can be easily DIY from the hotel or from the airport (according to the description of the hotel site, the Hilton Airport hotel is only a two-minute walk from Terminal 3 arrival hall via a covered walkway). We are interested to visit Nyhavn waterfront, Christiansborg Palace, Amalienborg Palace, and any other interesting nearby attractions or shopping areas.

Could you kindly advise us on:

1. What transportation option (walking, metro, HOHO...) do we have to go to those places?

2. How do we get to those transportation option from the hotel or from the airport?

3. Any advice on the order of which place to visit first/last?

4. Any suggestions for nearby interesting places that I didn't mentioned?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.:)

You take metro line M2 towards Vanløse and get off at Kongens Nytorv.

Here is the walking route, I added Rosenborg (with the crown Jewels) and Rundetaarn.

If you plan on visiting any of the places you can safe alot of money by buying the Copenhagen Card.

The 24 hour card costs 329 kroner but if you are taking a canal tour from Nyhavn, visiting Amalienborg, Rosenborg, Rundetaarn and Christiansborg and add the free public transportation you will save 211 kroner.

Thank you for the valuable information. I still have a few more questions, and would appreciate it if you can help me.

1. Can we walk to the Metro station from the airport or Hilton Airport Hotel? If so, how long will the walk be?

2. We don't plan to do the canal tour or do any inside visits of the palaces, because we have already done it on our land tour. If so, should we still buy the 24-hour card or can buy something else?

Thank you.

1) No need to find a metro station as the airport got its very own station at Terminal 3 and Hilton.

2) The city pass cost 80 kroner anbd covers the area around Copenhagen including the airport.

Thank you so much for your information.:)

The difference is that the Copenhagen Card covers all 90 zones (or how many there is) but also entrance to most museums and tourist sites.

City pass is only for transportation and only in Zone 1 to 4.

That is central Copenhagen, all the cruise Terminals, Carlsberg and the Zoo and the Island of Amager where the Airport, Blue Planet Aquarium, Dragør fishing village and Ørestad District is located.

If you are planning on visiting the Viking ship museum, open air museum, The worlds oldest amusement park Bakken, Louisiana arts museum, Karen Blixen house (out of Africa) Kronborg castle and Frederiksborg Palace amongst other things you need either a 24 hour transportation card that costs 130 kroner or the Copenhagen Card that costs 329 but will give you access to most of these place.

The Copenhagen Card also covers zone 1 to 4 and all the tourist sites and museums located there.

Hello Danish Viking,

I received the waking tour by mail from the Copenhagen tourist office. Looks pretty self explanatory any pointers would be greatly appreciated. We are a party of five able to walk the tour.

Thank You

I don't know about that walking tour, if you can tell me the route I can maybe come up with something but I would be surprised I knew something that the tourist information didn't knew. :D

Hi Danish Viking,

I saw a post from a cruise critic member that said you can email the tourist center and give them your address and they sent by regular mail some coupons and a map and walking tour information so I thought it was a good plan.

The walking tour starts at the visitors center and I see the cruise ship terminals on the map. Is that walking distance to the visitor center doable or do we have to take a taxi to there?

The map includes all the sites in the town and of course some restaurants that probably advertise so we will skip that and just see the sights. Such as...Christtianborg palace, Kongens Nytrov, Nyhanen and many more. It swings around and does a loop back to the cruise ship passing the little mermaid statue is there anything that we should not miss? Thanks for your help?

There are 3 cruise terminals, Nordre Toldbod and Langeliniekaj is in walking distance but if your ship is docked at Oceankaj its not possible to walk.

But as Oceankaj is mostly for ships ending and starting a cruise (turn around) I assume your ship is docked at Langeliniekaj.

Its possible to walk but as the tourist center is located on the opposite part of town its a long walk (I'm guesing 1 hour) its better to take bus 26 towards Ålholm Plads and get off at either Rådhuspladsen (city hall square) or at Hovedbanegården (central station).

The information center is located almost in the middle of these two bus stops.

Well back to the walking route.

Christiansborg is located halfway along Strøget pedestrian street so you can start there.

At the same area at Strøget you will find another pedestrian street called Købmagergade, if you walk a few 100 meters up that street you will find the Rundetårn observation tower.

Back at Strøget and towards the end you will find Kongens Nytorv, but currently its one big construction site as they are building the city circle line of the Copenhagen metro.

They are building a new platform and connecting tunnel to the existing platform at M1/M2.

So I will go directly to Nyhavn and take a canal tour (1hour) and when done then just walk up to the middle of Nyhavn and find Vaffelbageren that makes the best soft ice.

After that you walk along the harbour towards the little mermaid, on the way you will pass Amalienborg Palace and the Kastellet Fortress.

One other option after Rundetårn could be instead of walking back to Strøget then to walk up to Rosenborg Palace and Kongens Have and then walk to Nyhavn after that.

Maybe I should map the route on google maps when I got online. :D

Hi, we will be staying 3 days post-cruise in Copenhagen in May. Our flight out leaves at 6 am, so we plan to leave for airport around 3-3:30 am. Any problems finding taxis that early? Also, another option we thought about just staying the 3 days at Hilton Airport Hotel & taking train to city center, etc each day for sightseeing. If we do that, Is it a long walk from Hotel to Terminal 2, or is there a shuttle running between terminals at 3 am? Thanks so much! I can't walk far (hip problem) so have walking concerns through airport.

There is plenty of taxis in Copenhagen at night but I would get the hotel to prearrange a taxi just to be sure.

Terminal 2 and 3 is located smack up at each other, the even share security check in.

The map doesn´t show the check in counters and luggage drop offs but the entrance after security is located in the light blue area.

Here it is with walking times in minutes.

The Hilton is located at the tip at the wing structure.

Thank you.

Hi Danish Viking,

How much is it to take bus 26 into the city hall area and where do we catch it?

Also how much or is it possible for a taxi for 5 passengers instead.

Thanks so much, we are using your suggestions for our walking tour.

We do dock at Langeliniekaj.

Bus 26 is either stopping at the pier itself or at the bottom at the pier at Indiakaj.

Its easy to see, if there is no departures at the timetable just walk to the Indiakaj stop instead.

The trip costs 24 kroner.

A taxi is probably in the 150-200 range.
