redcruzer Posted April 5, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2014 we need to get home to RI from Boston. Do we take the T or commuter train? Are they the same thing? How do we know which "line" to take and where do we go to get on in the first place??? :D Helppppp.
1025cruise Posted April 5, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2014 You can take the silver line to South Station, and then the commuter rail or Amtrak to Providence (commuter rail to Warwick).
redcruzer Posted April 5, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Sounds good. Is that the easiest way? So I ask the cab driver to take us to the T station? Sorry, just want to have his figured out before we go.
1025cruise Posted April 5, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2014 You could just walk there...... Its right across the street.

chengkp75 Posted April 5, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 5, 2014 For clarification, the Silver line in this area is a bus, not the T.
Arusha Posted April 5, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Trains leave from South Station. Intercity buses leave from the bus terminal next door to South Station. Here's a link to to the South Station website with links to info about intercity buses and Amtrak/commuter rail to RI: http://www.south-station.net/ Here's a link to the MBTA website, which has info on commuter rail from Boston to RI. http://www.mbta.com/ South Station is about a mile from the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal. To get from the cruise terminal to South Station, you can take a cab or take the MBTA Silver Line: http://www.mbta.com/schedules_and_maps/subway/lines/?route=SILVER
1025cruise Posted April 5, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 5, 2014 For clarification, the Silver line in this area is a bus, not the T. Its still called the T. The T could mean the subway, bus system, Silver Line Rapid Transit, or the commuter rail. Or the ferry system.
redcruzer Posted April 5, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted April 5, 2014 Ok so to sum it up, I take the silver line BUS to south station , then hop on either the commuter train or Amtrak to providence, right????
Twelvevman Posted April 6, 2014 #10 Share Posted April 6, 2014 That is correct. Please note the commuter rail only goes to Warwick during the week, not on the weekends. The commuter rail to Providence is 7 days a week http://www.mbta.com/schedules_and_maps/rail/lines/?route=PROVSTOU&direction=O&timing=W&RedisplayTime=Redisplay+Time
