srlafleur Posted April 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) Not trying to smuggle, just would like to transfer allowable bottles to lighter weight (and unbreakable) containers. Would this be a go or a no-go? http://www.flask2go.com/products/wine2go-the-foldable-wine-bottle Anyone from RCI, please feel free to chime in. Thanks Oh, and for in-room use only, not to bring to the dining room...that would be tacky :) Edited April 11, 2014 by srlafleur
Clarea Posted April 11, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2014 The rules say two up to 750ml bottles. Anything else they can refuse.
Abercram Posted April 11, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2014 From what I've read on here it needs to be in the original containers. I guess to make sure that it is what it says it is.
srlafleur Posted April 11, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted April 11, 2014 Far as I know, this holds the contents of a standard bottle.

nolesrule Posted April 11, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 11, 2014 You may be taking a risk though. If security is looking for winery-sealed original wine bottles, anything else could be deemed as non-allowable because the contents could be something other than wine. marci22 Posted April 11, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 11, 2014 I am guessing they would confiscate them if they found them.
Rare LMaxwell Posted April 11, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 11, 2014 If they see that, they won't allow it. Wine bottles must still be sealed and the label must clearly state somewhere that they are wine. For comfort, convenience, and to mitigate risk of bottle breaking consider getting a padded, soft sided wine carrier.

I'm actually less concerned about breakage (that's easy enough to mitigate), but it sure would be nice to lessen the weight.

Your dealing with port security people that have to process thousands of guests in a limited time. Much easier for them to simply say no, rather than conduct smelling/tasting tests. LAngle Posted April 11, 2014 #11 Share Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) Saw security take a big double bottle of wine in Baltimore in December. Made no sense to me. MAYBE someone was trying to take 2 big bottles. Edited April 11, 2014 by LAngle

MAYBE someone was trying to take 2 big bottles. You are limited to 2 750mL bottles. Those are standard wine bottles. If you bring a 1.5L bottle, even if it's just one, they will take it away because the bottle is larger than 750mL.
redcard Posted April 11, 2014 #13 Share Posted April 11, 2014 How much weight do you think you're saving? Why not just not have breakfast that day? Probably save you the same Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
