Getaway Inside Staterooms

Has anyone cruised in a Interior Stateroom on the Getaway and what did you think of the size, some of them are around 140 sq ft this seems small?

We are looking at the Breakaway insides. The NCL website says that the IB staterooms on deck 5 are slightly bigger than the other insides. This should be the same with Getaway. They are all listed as the same size but you see that frequently...like when they tell you balconies are all the same size, aft, hump or regular. We may try a IB this fall to Bermuda.

We just got back from our cruise on the Getaway. We had a mid ship Oceanview with a large picture window OB was the description. It was great for the two of us. I can see where it might be crowded if you were in one of these rooms with the bunk beds too. The closet space was fine. Plenty of hangers. A lot of shelves to put stuff on. There were also plenty of cubbies to put more stuff around the room. Above the TV and below it....on each side of the vanity. There was also a box style stool that you could put stuff in. Luggage went under the bed. The bathroom had room for storage under the sink and also some other shelves to put stuff on. The showers have dispensers with shampoo and body soap. I would recommend bringing conditioner and a small bar of facial soap. Showers were nice and hot. Nice shower head - not a lot of water pressure....more like the soft rain showerheads. When you come in to the room you insert your key card in a slot which turns on the power. When you leave the room, you pull it out and everything turns off. If you bring an old key card from a hotel, etc. it will work too which can be convenient if you want to leave the air cond. running or are trying to charge electronics. The matresses were really comfortable and pillows were good. There are bedside tables with more space to store stuff and also individual reading lights on each side of the bed. Nice. Overall we were very satisfied with the accomadations. If you have any questions, let me know. This was my first cruise and it was amazing.

We had 2 standard INSIDE on the Breakaway, 2 adults in each, 1 cabin was for 3 with the upper Pullman bunk (not used) and the other was for 2 only. It's cozy and compact, well designed and lots of open shelves for storage - I strongly recommend using packing tubes (inexpensive ones from local IKEA store worked just fine, we used them for air travel for years and have 3 sets from eBags online (also on their own eBay store) - keep everything neat, organized and dust-free without spilling all over.

Follow this link (also under my SIGnature) to some of the photos that better illustrate the design/layout of the cabin - it's fine/good for 2 people alone and/or small child(ren) - 3 adults might feel a little crowded - with such a big ship, we didn't spend a lot of time inside, except to sleep, shower & wash, change and relax in-between various activities. There are lots of public places all over the ship to sit, enjoy and people watch, indoor & outdoors on the Waterfront & Deck 16 that are shaded.

To create a bit more sitting room on the side/edge of the Queen bed push together, ask your Steward to move it against the long side of the wall - it's a bit more work for them to make the bed daily, but they can do it - give them time after embarkation, or, if you can do it yourself. Move it yourself but let the Steward know your preference for the week so s/he won't move it back to the "centered" position, leaving 14" to 18" on each side of the bed only.

The desk/dresser counter is on the small side with its triangular shape, and the ice bucket/cups taking up 25% of the surface. you can free it up putting the bucket inside the emptied mini-frig (ice cubes will last longer) and the cups on the ledge above the mirror (or, inside the bathroom) Or, move it to one of night dresser/table. Our slim netbook and tablets were stored under the TV's open vertical shelf.
