Wheelchair on Ecstasy out of Galveston

Anyone have experience getting Carnival to provide a wheelchair for use on the ship?

I've had great luck with Celebrity and Princess--allowed use for entire cruise including on shore.

Carnival website says their chairs are for "emergency only" and not to be used off the ship. Is that defensive language, or do they follow it to the letter? Anyone have experience?

Carnival does not allow their chairs off on the ports. They do have wheelchairs for people who need them while waiting to check in.

We rented a chair for my mom through carnival- it was 80 bucks for the week. The chair is in the cabin. She was able to use a chair when boarding. Got preferential treatment to board and one other person was allowed to board with her-- not our whole family.

Whenshe got to the cabin the chair was there. after the cruise she used the chair and a carnival employee too it back to the ship after she got in the cab.
