Trent - We need your help again.

Our travel agent is suggesting we book at the Oceanside Best Western? I believe she said the address is 180 Seabreeze Blvd. Price includes transportation from the airport to the hotel and a shuttle to the cruise ship the next day.

I can get a better rate at the Holiday Inn Express on 17th Ave if I book and pay it now for Feb. Any recommendations?

We are staying at the Marriott Courtyard Dania Beach. They have free shuttle service from the airport and to the cruise port. I don't know about restaurants in the area though. Their phone # is 954-342-8333. Hope this helps. They are called an airport and cruise port hotel and is new.

I'd go with the Holiday Inn Express on SE 17th Street, it's much nicer, and has many many restaurants, shops, as well as grocery/drug/liquor stores within easy walking distance of it. That BW is on the beach, but it's old and you'd have to take taxis, Water Taxi, or have a car to go to dinner, or any shopping.

Holiday Inn Express has an airport shuttle, but not to the port, however it's only a block and a half from the entrance to the port and won't cost much at all to take a taxi in.

If you have to pay for your entire stay in advance I'd make sure my travel insurance will cover it if something happened and I had to cancel.

That Courtyard is very nice and new, but there's only one restaurant within walking distance - Islamorada Fish Company... http://www.ifcstonecrab.com/ritem.cfm?cat=63

The hotel is next to Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World... http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.CFPage?appID=94&storeID=16

But that's it, to go anywhere else you'll need a taxi.

Hi, We're coming in to Miami the night before and renting a car to get to FLL.

We'll be staying at the Wyndham in FLL (I know, I know, It doesn't have the best reputation but I'm in the travel industry and got a fantastic rate and it's only for one night) Anyway, was wondering what kind of neighborhood the Wyndham is located in and what restaurants would anyone recommend that are not too far away. Also, does anyone know if Dollar Rentacar has a dropoff at the pier.

Their reservation rep said they do, but just wanted to know if anyone else has done this.

Well first of all, no rental car companies have a drop off within Port Everglades, but rather at the airport. FLL and Port Everglades are adjacent, and it's about a $10 cab ride between the two. All the major rental car companies are now located in the new "Car Rental Center" which is a large parking garage in the middle of the airport terminals, thus eliminating individual company lots and shuttles.

The airport Wyndham is located on the SW corner of the airport property. It's across from the Sheraton, but there's nothing else in the immediate area. The closest restaurant (5 minutes by car, but too far to walk) is Islamorada Fish Company... http://www.ifcstonecrab.com/ritem.cfm?cat=63

Since you'll have a car though you may enjoy one of the many many restaurants on the beach, SE 17th Street, or Las Olas Blvd. (all 10-15 minutes from the Wyndham)... http://www.lasolasboulevard.com/

We have a reservation at the Best Western Marina on 17th Street. Could any of you tell me if this is a bad idea? I have seen mixed reviews on this property. They do provide transportation to and from airport/cruiseport so that is a plus. I understand it it in a good location as well. Would we be better off to book the Holiday Inn on 17th Street? It is only a few $ more..... Confused...

Terry & Beth, nothing to be confused about... RUN!!! Staying at that BW is a VERY VERY BAD idea!!! That place is a dump, and that's being very kind!!! Mixed reviews??? I've never seen a good review. There are many on here and elsewhere, virtually all bad... One gentleman even said he slept in his car because the room was so bad.

Do yourself a HUGE favor, if you want a discount hotel book the Holiday Inn Express on SE 17th Street... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/1/en/hd/fllcc

Or Extended Stay America... http://www.extendedstayamerica.com/hotels/fort-lauderdale-convention-center-marina.html

Or AmeriSuites... http://amerisuites.com/reservations/locationdetail.asp?facid=3929

Holiday Inn Express has airport shuttles, AmeriSuites has both airport and port shuttles, but they're all 3 in a much BETTER location. They're all 3 less than 10 minutes from the airport, just outside the entrance to Port Everglades, and within easy walking distance of many many restaurants, shops, grocery, drug & liquor stores. That BW is within walking distance of nothing.

Trent, Thank you so much! We will be making changes in our reservations PDQ to one of your suggestions. Amerisuites was one on my list but since we are traveling in Feb, we were waiting. I think we better make plans sooner to get the room we want.

Thanks again....I do believe everyone on this board loves it that you are helping us with our room decisions. You need to open up a business!
