Time on our hands

Constellation docks at Fort Lauderdale at 7.00 so will probably be off ship by 8.30. Flight from Miami International is at 21.45. The only tour Celebrity is offering at present is to Sawgrass Mall (which we have done before). Can anyone recommend another way to while away 8-9 hours with luggage in tow? Did think about day room at airport hotel, but couldn’t see any on offer.

How have you booked your flights? If you booked through Celebrity in the UK, as your flight is leaving so late, you will get a complimentary day-room at a Miami hotel. If you booked flights independently, you can book a day-room yourself. We booked at the Sofitel in January 2013, had a leisurely lunch [then fell asleep for most of the afternoon - but that was unplanned] before taking the hotel's shuttle bus to the terminal. Unless you particularly want to go on a tour, it is a nice way to finish your cruise.

 

You need to contact the hotel directly to make a booking.

An 1/2 day Everglades tour (some companies with hold your luggage while you tour) prior to leaving for Miami.:D

That one was offered on our last several cruises out of Florida with other lines. We've done it and it was lots of fun. Good idea!

Getting onto one of the airboats is great fun in itself.:D

We have an upcoming cruise with our post cruise flight back to canada early evening. After not rushing off the ship to catch a 10 am flight as we typically do. We plan on getting a car rental for the day at the port with return at the airport. This provides for a trunk (or boot :-). to store luggage while we do a bit of US shopping at the great outlet malls.

Great idea, just make sure you have the capacity for the extra luggage/weight to bring back home.:D
