Kavala to Philippi

Is there public/easy transportation from the Kavala port to Philippi? How easy is Philippi to tour on your own? Thanks

I'm on a cruise stopping at Kavala (for Philippi) this fall. Our shore excursion is included, but just in case I had also located these directions for a public bus:

The poster says it was about a 15-minute journey, but looking at it on Google maps I think it would have to be closer to a half hour each way. Still, sounds easy enough.
