fat_joe Posted August 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2005 I am taking my first cruise on the Triumph on Saturday. I have heard that my bags may not arrive at my cabin until 8 PM. Is it okay to wear shorts or jeans to dinner the first night or should I pack a change of clothes in my carry on bag? Thanks for the help.
Hootsie Posted August 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2005 It's totally ok the first night. They understand your luggage may not arrive by dinner time. Just relax and enjoy your first dinner!
toesockrock Posted August 8, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2005 Jeans and shorts are allowed in the dining room on the first night, I believe. Have a good cruise!! xoxo Maggi
jleq Posted August 8, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2005 While the dress code isn't enforced the first night, I always pack something like khakis/polo shirt
lilmsonry Posted August 8, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 8, 2005 YEAH, that eases my mind also. Can you imagine what the clothes would look like if they were in carry on, there are five of us, you would probably spot us when we walked in with all the wrinkles!!! L_T Posted August 8, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 8, 2005 We carry an extra set of clothes for dinner in our carry-on, as well as bathing suits. Fold your clothes carefully, hang them up when you get in your cabin, and they will be fine by dinner time.
Bunkie103 Posted August 8, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 8, 2005 We usually wear something decent for embarcation and are then okay for dinner if our bags don't arrive in time.
katie286 Posted August 8, 2005 #8 Share Posted August 8, 2005 I am wearing a white skort when I embark on our cruise. Its a skirt with shorts under it. This particular one has the shirt going all the way around it so it really looks like a skirt. That with a nice top will take care of me if the bags don't arrive in time for dinner. DH is wearing Kahki shorts and a polo shirt with boat shoes. Its too hot to make him wear pants while embarking. If for some reason, the bags don't arrrive, we'll look decent. :)
Bunkie103 Posted August 8, 2005 #9 Share Posted August 8, 2005 You'll also look really nice for your embarcation photo! Have a great trip!
Cotton Posted August 8, 2005 #10 Share Posted August 8, 2005 I make a point of wearing something for embarkation that would be appropriate for dinner - like a nice capri set. However, I've always rec'd my luggage before 4pm.
Susky Posted August 8, 2005 #11 Share Posted August 8, 2005 Pack a bathing suit in your carry-on bag. Enjoy the pool area before it gets crazy with people. Also pack something easy to change into for dinner. I wore a button-down shirt with my shorts for embarkation, and then just packed a swimsuit and pair of khakis. The only questionable thing I wore was my sneakers...but nobody cared (except for a friend who was just busting on me a little). We also had most of our bags in our room by dinner, BTW. I was impressed.
Doug910 Posted August 8, 2005 #12 Share Posted August 8, 2005 ...We're lucky enough to have just a short 75 minute drive to the Port so we usually wear something presentable for our embarkation pictures (which is the one photo we definitely purchase every cruise) and in the Dining Room. ...But, my Father-in-Law...AARRGGHH!! The guy spends 40 years wearing a suit & tie to work and "dressesd down" when his bags arrive at the cabin (usually before 5pm) to shorts! Claims he's going to "make believe" his bags didn't arrive to the room yet! AARRGGHH!!
Cotton Posted August 8, 2005 #13 Share Posted August 8, 2005 Uh, Doug - You might want to edit your "location" info. It's so long, it's running your posts off the board.:D

Cotton Posted August 8, 2005 #17 Share Posted August 8, 2005 Doug, in your 'location', the last thing I can see before it runs off is port...then I can scroll across further and see "of Miami".
