Darn good article with some excellent advice. I smiled at her description of ships tours (I like to think of many tours as cattle in a herd). I would only question her comments on Santorini. This is an excellent island to do on your own with a rental car if you want to explore beyond Fira and Oia. As to getting from Fira to Oia, it can easily be accomplished on the public buses (they run quite often) or by hiring a taxi (not as hard as she describes).
