johnrich Posted August 11, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2005 We will be sailing on RCCL's Adventure OTS on Sept 11 for the Eastern Itinerary. We booked our flights through RCCL so our transfers are included. We arrive in San Juan at 12:30 on Sunday afternoon and the ship departs at 10:00. At the end of the trip we depart San Juan at 1:00, so we won't be able to do any tours that day of San Juan. We thought we would have plenty of time to do a 3-4 hour tour of San Juan before getting on the ship but everyone here seems to be saying that they boarded the ship between 11:00 and 1:00. Is there time to do the Old San Juan/Bacardi tour before boarding or would you recommend skipping a tour of San Juan and just get accustomed to the ship (1st time on AOTS, but have been on RCCL 3 other times)? johnrich 09-05 Adventure of the Seas - E. KKeeganS Posted August 11, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2005 I think you would have time to do a tour depending on their schedule. Other people say they take a cab down to walk around Old San Juan and the forts on embarkation day. We sailed on the AOS last fall - the ship is really nicely laid out and it's easy to find your way around. You'll have a whole week to explore the ship, but not much of a chance to check out San Juan. Also, we're on your sailing. If you haven't already you should check out our Roll Call thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=109904
vacation lover 26 Posted August 12, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2005 Do a tour!! We just got back from AOS and wished that we took a tour instead of boarding at 12. All aboard is not until 8pm and honestly, unless you are really bad at directions or map reading you will be acclamated to the ship in no time. you are free to check in and then get off the ship
