rlkubi Posted August 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2014 Could anyone tell me the approximate cost to go from LGA to Carnival cruise terminal in Manhattan? Trying to figure out if better to take taxi or $30 each for Carnival transfer. Thank you!
njhorseman Posted August 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2014 (edited) About $35-$40 plus tolls (which can be $0-$6 depending on the route taken) and tip (customarily 15-20% of the fare). ers For two or more people a taxi will be cheaper than the cruise line transfers. meadcher Posted August 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 24, 2014 Any ideas on hotels around Manhattan Cruise Port that offer parking for the time of the cruise and transportation to and from the port. Everything I see is like $300 and up and no parking or transfers.
138east Posted August 24, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 24, 2014 Any ideas on hotels around Manhattan Cruise Port that offer parking for the time of the cruise and transportation to and from the port. Everything I see is like $300 and up and no parking or transfers. Unfortunately, that's true. The only hotel that comes close is Embassy Suites in Secaucus, NJ which offers a rather expensive park/ cruise with one way transportation - you pay for the return trip. There are several strategies. One is to to do a park/cruise through Trinityreservations.com at Newark Airport and arrange a car service to take you to NYC or take the train and cab. Another is to get a Hotwire room in Central Jersey or Edison, park at Port Imperial for $15/day, take the ferry for $9/pp, and take a cab, bus or walk to the pier. Still another is to stay at the Hampton Inn on Staten Island where you can park for free, take the free hotel shuttle to the ferry, take the free ferry to lower Manhattan and a cab to the pier. smeyer418 Posted August 26, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 26, 2014 (edited) I am going from LGA to NCL Gem.. download the Lyft or Uber ap and save time and money with non-taxis google it.. first time is often free... Both Uber and Lyft in NYCity use the same car services that are available directly from the car service companies. Both have what is called surge pricing when the car services are hard to find and can be over 5 times the cost of a "regular" car service or taxi. Unless you have used these in NY please don't compare them to the rest of the country. We have discussed the differences between super shuttle in the rest of the country and here as well. I use super shuttle outside the NY area all the time and would never use them here. http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20140807/BLOGS04/140809902/lyft-takes-on-uber-and-wins-for-now# No hotel around the Manhattan cruise terminal offers cruise inclusive parking. There are some in NJ and the Port Imperial parking in Jersey City/Weehauken lot in conjunction with using the Ferry over is an option.
