Returning from Venice--Earliest safe flight time?

We are looking at a cruise that arrives in Venice one day before debarkation. Celebrity Choice Air would schedule us on an 11:05 AM departure. We will have made 3 stops in Italy after stops in Croatia, so customs shouldn't be a problem, right? What would be a safe time to leave the ship?

Flying internationally it's generally advised you get there what, 1.5-2 hours ahead of the flight time? So you'd want to be there by say 9am. We experienced quite long lines for our May 2014 flight out of Venice (flying only to rome not yet back to the states). I'd say you'd likely want to do walk off on your own as early as possible to be on the safe side. You have to factor in how you're going to get to/from the airport and the time it takes and how readily available it will be. Also keep in mind Venice public transport does strike - so always have a backup plan.

I just finished the Aug24-31 on the Silhouette, which was a fantastic cruise, BTW.

We walked off the ship. (Carry your own luggage) at 7 am, and walked 3 minutes to the taxi stand, no wait, and 20 minutes or so to the airport. 45 euros.

Lines at airport check-in got busy but moved quickly.

First off the ship with checked luggage was about 730 am, so figure you would be at the airport by 815 or so.

You should be fine with an 1105 flight, but i would definitely take a taxi. We shared with another couple so it was half the 45 euro fixed rate fare for each couple.

Originally we were going to take the people mover to the airport bus, but the people mover does not open until 8am on sundays!

Marco Polo airport can be a real zoo, esp after a large ship disembarks. On the Italy boards it is recommended to allow three hours at the airport, and some people have reported running for their plane even getting there three hours early.

However, you could pick any flight you want using Choice Air, you are not restricted whatsoever so I'm not sure about that part of your statement.
