This is the 2nd year in a row I've noticed they placed towel animals at the Lido Pool on the morning of the last port.

These guys don't run in from the rain like us humans do. LOL

Yeah - I went there. I rearranged the animals so I could get this "Three Bears" pic. :D

We did an island tour today. The island is 1/2 Dutch and 1/2 French. The French side is pretty run down, unless you are going to Orient Beach.

The French side is "Saint Martin", while the Dutch side is "Sint Maarten". Having seen both sides of the island; I prefer the Dutch side and have thus been using "Sint Maarten" as my preferred spelling and pronunciation of this beautiful island.

Here are a few pics:

I had a burrito for lunch, here's a few dessert options:

Cruise20141011_zps0e7f3162.jpg

Then, I got a few shots of the other ships in port with us; including the Allure of the Seas. This ship is, by weight, twice the size of the Liberty. Look at the width of that thing!

Here is today's Port of Call Drink, The DEEP BLUE:

Cruise20141045_zps36c5b06c.jpg

Does it look BLUE to you? Me neither.... But, it was good.

So, Pop's birthday was before the cruise. We decided that tonight would be the night we did a SURPRISE birthday dinner for him.

We had him order from the Steakhouse Selections. He chose the Filet Mignon:

Cruise20141053_zps11a5fbe9.jpg

Doesn't that look WONDERFUL???

So, on to the Special Request. They have a New York Strip on the Steak Selection List. But, someone asked if they could request a Ribeye instead. With 24 hours notice, YES, they said they could do this for the same $20 upcharge. Doesn't this look good as well?

Cruise20141054_zps5abc09cf.jpg

We did have other entrees as well.

Spaghetti Carbonara:

Cruise20141055_zps0445d8d5.jpg

Pan Seared Basa Filet:

Cruise20141056_zps1cb1bf45.jpg

And, tonight's Port of Call entree was Co Au Vin:

We special ordered a cake tonight:

Cruise20141063_zps4b0cdd3e.jpg

Cruise20141065_zpsc526bef7.jpg

This cake was......FABULOUS!!!!!

Of course, we like our desserts. We ordered extra desserts, but in the excitement of our party, no menu pics. We you can see is:

The low-calorie pineapple option:

Cruise20141066_zps16eeb6c7.jpg

Tonight's Pie a la Mode option was Pumpkin:

Cruise20141068_zpscf023e03.jpg

And, finally, the Bitter and Blanc Bread Pudding:

Cruise20141067_zps888a3551.jpg

I didn't order this because it's been dry the last two years. But, I was assured by two family members it was VERY moist this year.

Here's another night visitor:

I'm sorry things have gotten a little out of sync. I'm trying to get all of the food pictures posted.

Afterwards, I may be able to go back and post a little more of the fun we had.

Bye for now everybody!

We will be on the Liberty in Dec. and was told that they no longer offered The Bitter and Blanc. We have a lady that will be with us that loves it. What night was it offered so I can tell her, that she may be able to order it after all.

Thanks,

JIm

I thought the Bitter and Blanc was gone as well. I had seen another bread pudding dish that I thought replaced it.

On the 8 night Eastern, it was offered the night of Sint Maarten. If your cruise is shorter, I can't tell you which menus will or will not be on your trip.

So, some people choose the evening buffet instead of the MDR. I've done this before on previous cruises; I've never come away hungry.

Tonight, I happened to take some pics to do a comparison. There is a carving station which had Top Round Roast - an option not offered in the MDR tonight:

Cruise20141080_zpsbb0f4d8d.jpg

Other items that WERE on tonight's menu that WERE on the buffet include:

Pork Chops:

Cruise20141079_zps1f78ebc3.jpg

Spaghetti Carbonara:

Cruise20141076_zpsdbc552e5.jpg

The Basa becomes Grilled Fish:

Cruise20141077_zps871b4bb2.jpg

And, the Coq Au Vin becomes Chicken 'n Red Wine:

Cruise20141078_zps3ef2b659.jpg

You do miss out on the great appetizers and better desserts. But, they do have salads and fresh fruit with some dessert choices:

Cruise20141081_zpsaf9d7d58.jpg

So, if you just don't want to sit for the length of a full meal and/or aren't hungry (how can that be, LOL); there are nice options upstairs. I believe the Mongolian Wok is also open - I've done that on past cruises.

I've only been to Sint Maarten twice in all of my cruises. One thing I LOVE about this port is the TWO sea days it takes to get back to Florida.

So, you have more time to unwind and relax.

I'm focusing on food for now, so here we go.

We went to the Brunch again today. Most things are repeats from our first visit: Steak and Eggs, omelettes, etc.

Here's one nice new addition: Bagel with smoked salmon:

Cruise20141116_zps7eba6747.jpg

We also went to Afternoon Tea Today:

Cruise20141132_zpsf295925d.jpg

Cruise20141133_zps707e8385.jpg

Chocolate Maccaroons, YUM:

Cruise20141134_zpsed2c7bbf.jpg

And, I mentioned we made a repeat trip to the Alchemy Bar with one drink becoming a favorite:

Cruise20141136_zpsa77634fc.jpg

Three of us ordered the Remedy. Also pictured is the Restorative Basil Drop and Forty is the new Twenty.

On to Dinner.

OMG the food porn is killing me! Have never cruised on a ship with the new menus and my mouth is watering! :o I have to look up what the REMEDY drink is. Not sure if it's my computer or your photobucket, but I can't get pictures prior to post 135.:confused:

THANK YOU for all of your hard work in putting this together. I will be on this cruise - 8 day end of Nov/Dec. Several family/friends along with several CC members.

The only port I have not been to is San Juan. Do you know if there are independent shore excursion operators right at the pier that you can hire?

Yes there are independent shore excursion operators waiting right at the exit of the cruise terminal. I took one of their excursions, it was a guided tour of the city, with stops for $20 per person, which you pay at the end of the excursion. I hadn't planned on doing an excursion in San Juan, but was glad I did this. It was totally worth it.

Just read the entire review. Loved it. Will be on Liberty, 8 night Southern in January. New menu looks very good.

mrpayroo, did you start at the beginning today, or have you been following along?

When I started, I was using one account. I only use Photobucket to post pics here, so I only have the free account. I didn't realized I had used up all the space. I had a separate e-mail account. When I started posting pics using that account, all of the earlier ones seem to have disappeared.

If you are trying to read the earlier info; I'm sorry it's gone.....

Karen, The I LOVED The Remedy. It had coconut and pineapple; but as you can see it not at all like a frozen pina colada.

I guess I'll just keep going with the last few food pics for those of you that have been following along the whole way.....

One last appetizer from the 2nd Formal Night Menu:

Stuffed Mushrooms:

Cruise20141145_zpse74b012f.jpg

Only a couple of entrees tonight.

The Filet Mignon, with Beef Confit:

Cruise20141146_zpsf9e5e287.jpg

The Beef Confit is another piece of beef which is also similar to braised beef/pot roast. I guess you gotta go to the Steakhouse or pay the $20 to get the full steakhouse sized portion. LOL

Teriyaki Salmon:

Here is the Dessert Menu:

Here is the Grand Marnier Souffle:

Chocolate Amaretto Cake:

Cruise20141151_zpscd76375d.jpg

And lastly, we have a surprise.

Remember, I told you that you can ask for Special Request and sometimes, they can be granted?

We've done this before with good results.

Our family, we really, REALLY like the Creme Brulee.

So, last night, we put in a Special Request for eight servings:

More appetizers:

Steamed Mussels

Cruise20141209_zps71ce270b.jpg

Duck Pot Stickers

Cruise20141210_zps034da5cb.jpg

These were wonderful! Two complaints - there should be more and as good as it was, the duck servings get smaller and smaller. It used to be an entree, then an appetizer of smoked duck which had a lot more meat. But, this really was delicious!

And, I've been holding back on the chilled soups for the MANGO:

Cruise20141211_zpsaa57c565.jpg

Here are a few entrees:

Ricotta Ravioli

Cruise20141212_zpsae2920e6.jpg

The Port of Call Chili Rellenos

Cruise20141213_zpscf74e251.jpg

And finally, Prime Rib - end cut requested
