njsonja Posted October 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2014 Does anyone know if the televisions provide HDMI port access? I'd like to catch up on some work (which I absolutely must get done), and I need an additional screen and at home I always hook up my laptop to my tv when going over notes, etc.
Sloop-JohnB Posted October 3, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2014 FRMPEI seems to be one of the techno wizards on this CC Board... I have copied below a post of his that he did for another Cruiser (not the Summit however) in hopes that it will "tweak" his CC Mailbox so he can see this topic & reply FYI picture of My iPad hooked to Equinox March 14/14 voyage. FYI picture of my Apple TV hooked up on Silhouette March 2013 voyage. Regards, Kevin Reid Cheers!
Lsimon Posted October 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 4, 2014 From posts I've read here on Cruise Critic, I've gotten the impression that the flat screen TV's on the ship have the HDMI ports blocked and are in "hotel mode" but that some techies have figured out work abounds to do this. Here is a link to the thread where the post above came from. If you read the whole thread you'll see that it might not be that easy: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=33262074#post33262074
ECCruise Posted October 4, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 4, 2014 Yes, you will need the instructions to disable the HDMI block that Celebrity installs and allow auxiliary devices to access the port. You cannot simply plug in your device and have it work. For us, it was too much of a hassle to disable the block (some people actually go out and purchase generic remote controls to do that). We use the laptop screen for both work and movies. Not optimum but easier and we don't have to reset it for the next pax.

It was too much work to think about disabling the block. If you are a tecki you may be able to do it, but we did not bother.
