We are planning a cruise in Aug 2015, and will be driving our 40-ft RV to Vancouver and park it there while on our cruise. Does anyone know if there is either designated space or general parking space that can accommodate us?

There are some RV campgrounds in the area. Just search for RV facilities in the Vancouver area.

Here's a link to the parking for Canada Place cruise terminal in Vancouver for overheight vehicles (over 6’9”). They don't mention any limit on length. You could contact them to find out.
