Majesty - suggestions for a meeting venue

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Be grateful if anyone can suggest a venue on the ship - I guess it'd be a bar or pub - where we can meet up with folk we've met on-line and with whom we'll be sharing an independent shore excursion in the Caribbean. We're all first time with Majestic.

For the early evening of the first full day, a sea day, room for a dozen of us to share a corner without loud music or other distractions.

Many thanks

JB :)

I've never done a Caribbean cruise but if they are structured in the same way as the Med cruises are then you'll have the formal night on the evening of the day at sea, which means that the Polo Club will be very busy with people queueing for the captain's drinks.

This being the case, you're better off in the Royal Observatory up on deck 9 (where there will probably be a classical duo playing on and off), or the Rendezvous bar on deck 5 (where there will be a piano vocalist playing on and off). If you sit in the far corner of Rendezvous the music wouldn't be too intrusive, and both times I have been on Majesty the quality of the musicians has been excellent.

Hope this helps!

Who said anything about Majesty???

Oh dear.

That was me.:o

Posting about Thomson Dream.

But spelling it "Majesty".

Hmmm.

Anyone got any ideas about a venue on Dream?

Or am I gonna have the embarrassment of having to post a correctly- worded fresh question. Probably after this one has sunk to the bottom of the pile :D

But you've put the question of formal night in my mind.

tbh it will be difficult to find an empty corner for a dozen people on a sea day evening....there will be 'stuff' happening all over the place? most people will be occupying the bars/lounges waiting (to join the queue) for captains night and there may be bingo/quizzes etc going on in some of the bars....

also because of captains night the photographers will be setting up backdrops near the bar entrances so you have to dodge in and out of them

delo bar and casino area might be the quietest area in the early evening? but the nearby shops will be open and I think even the casino opens early on a sea day?

the smoking tables at the back of deck 10 might be an option? there are usually a couple of tables to be had if there is no sailaway, the sun goes down about 6pm which is when they put the sunbeds away.....the band will do a set at about 9pm (all the tables will be full by then)

hope this helps

Reading this reminded me of your recommending this bar to me going back to March/April time. After an almost disastrous start to our cruise a few weeks ago, I dragged DH up the steps there hoping to cheer him up. After a couple of G&Ts he mellowed and got into good conversation with another couple. I then looked around....and realised that we had missed the Sailaway! :(

PS. I hope not just for smokers. It's a nice place to sit in the open air to have a (decent) drink and a chat without having to raise your voice over loud background music for a change.

yes...deck 10, nice place for people to chat...handy for an al fresco snack too.... just up the steps from the buffet:cool:

staff crew use it a lot (they nearly all smoke)

it can get covered in soot from the funnel but thats not an issue on the sea day or in the evenings when ship is sailing

i think its smoking only on one side? (not the funnel...the smokers)

talking of soot?.... if they are taking away the sports net and making that area a 'sun lounge' isnt it a bit close to the funnel? will we get showered with soot? (I wouldn’t want soot all over my new loom band shorts):o:)

I got soot on my top and shorts on the Lido deck. Reception organised for them to be laundered free.
