Silver sandals

Recommended Posts

Ladies... I need your expert help! I have yet to decide whether to wear my long black mock turtle, bare shoulder (less fabric than sleeveless, whatever that's called) velvet gown or a long red sparkly halter gown...better try them on and see which fits best, since we cruise on Monday (just one Formal Night). I've read about silver sandals alot on these threads but I've always avoided them 'cause I thought they looked kinda sleezy. I saw some today and hesitated to buy them....waiting for advice. What do you think. I did buy a great beaded silver shoulder bag at TJMaxx this week for a great price, and I wear silver jewelry. Will I look elegant or sleezy?

I don't think it will look sleazy--silver and gold are very popular right now. With the silver purse and jewlery, it sounds like it would look great!

I love my gold & silver shoes & sandals. They are very elegant, not trashy at all unless as I've seen people do ~~~ shudder ~~~ you wear them w/ black hose.

I'd also opt for the red sparkly gown. Red is my favorite color! I am not a fan of the little black dress; you'll just blend. How boring. Plus, velevet in May . . . hmmmmm . . . not my 1st choice.

I say go for it. Buy the silver shoes & enjoy your cruise.

Thanks, Trish... good advice, though the black velvet is actually a lighter weight (kinda long and slinky) than the red, as the red has a heavy lining. Go figure!
But I never have worn the red....got a great deal on it at a Lord and Taylor outlet in Florida last year, and I haven't any other place to wear it than on the cruise!
Another question...do you think it will look nice with SO's navy suit and light blue shirt for formal night pics?

I have one pair of silver sandals that I love and wear with one particular formal outfit. If they look great, go for it!

Fascination 5/10 --

Is there any way of getting the SO into a tux? A suit is generally fine but you specifically asked if your long red sparkly dress would look good w/ navy suit for pictures. Yes, navy & red go but if you are more dressed up than he is, he may look shabby by comparsion.

Before some one flames me, I am not saying a man in a dark suit is dressed inappropriately for formal night. I am saying that if you care about the pictures, it would be nice if you were both at the same level of dressed up. It sounds to me like you will be in formal attire & he'll be in business attire.

All that said, expect for people on the fashion boards, I doubt anyone else will care (OK maybe your respective mothers) and certainly no one is going to say anything or gawk.

Have fun!

Thanks for the tip, Trish!
Good news... I tried on the red dress for him last night, and he decided a tux would be better!
Can't wait...still have to hit the bank, manicure, pedicure, finish packing, by sandals.... lots to do!!
