tdogcruiser Posted October 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2014 I am very confused about the cancellation policy for the pack and play rates. I have a very good rate but when I asked the PVP about cancellation, he said I would have to pay the going Early Saver rate (not the rate I paid) if I cancel unless I have the Carnival insurance. This sounded a bit fishy to me since the cost he quoted was over 10 times what I paid. I asked for something in writing and all they could provide me with was the original letter and small print on the bottom which merely states "cancellation penalities will apply" not a specific rate. Anyone know where I can go for complete clarification of this issue? I spoke with a PVP who also spoke with a manager.
Ken076 Posted October 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2014 (edited) The pack and play is a post Final Payment date promo? If so, I think you'll find that the standard cancellation "rates" in your cruise contract apply: 25% penalty so many days away from sailaway, 50% as you get closer and 100% within a few weeks. This is what Early Saver (and I think all rates) default to. Check the cruise contract and your cruise duration for the cancellation penalties after final payment. SEARCH Carnival site for "Pack and Play terms and Conditions" - there used to be a page with same for all the current promos. ken Edited October 14, 2014 by Ken076

Ken076 Posted October 14, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 14, 2014 Don't know about pack and play but with the pack and go promo it is non refundable at all. They're both offered after Final Payment Deadline therefore full payment at that time? Are they 100% penalty for cancellation after booking? ken
tdogcruiser Posted October 14, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted October 14, 2014 Thanks, I realize it would be 100% non-refundable for what I paid but PVP told me I would actually owe more money then I paid to the tune of 10x more (being whatever the regular or early saver rate was for that category). This is what didn't make sense to me and I could not really find it in writing. Do they charge your card the difference, do they send you a bill? I have never heard of a penalty in excess of the total price of the cruise. I don't know about pack and play as I have never seen that rate offered. Onetrufan Posted October 14, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 14, 2014 We booked a Pack & Play cruise on Oct. 5 for a Nov. 28 sailing. Here's one of the T&Cs that was in the booking confirmation email: Cancellations will be assessed penalties according to your promotional agreement as follows: ; 10/05/2014 - USD50.00 (pp); 10/14/2014 - 50.00% of total fare (pp); 10/30/2014 - 75.00% of total fare (pp)11/14/2014 - 100.00% of total fare (pp)

This is what didn't make sense to me and I could not really find it in writing. Do they charge your card the difference, do they send you a bill? You've already paid in full for your cruise. The WORST CASE is that your penalty will be 100% of your payment, so you basically lose all the money you paid Carnival. At least For similar Pack and GO the restrictions indicate full payment due and non-refundable; I interpret this as if you book and cancel you lose your payment. Other Bookings like Senior, etc., include restriction that "normal cancellation penalties apply" - which are those in the Cruise contract, starting from 25%, to 50% to 75% to full 100% shortly before sailway. Look at the end of your Booking Confirmation under Guest Notes and you should find the Terms&Conditions/restrictions. But the bottom line is thatg at most you'll lose your full payment (cruisefare). Govt Fees & Taxes (and prepaid gratuities) should be separately refunded in total. ken Edited October 14, 2014 by Ken076
tdogcruiser Posted October 14, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted October 14, 2014 Thanks everyone, I thought there was something wrong with what was said about owing more than what I paid....I checked the bottom of the letter which they emailed me and it says nothing about that - only that it is non-refundable if cancelled. Correct me if anyone has had to cancel on the special casino offers and was charged a different price that what was paid initially.
