Our second cruise on NCL and the last one was a long time ago.

They say the Garden Room is a 5 course meal and lets you make reservations and that Windows is 3 course meal and you cannot make reservations. Which one do you prefer and why? Thank you.

OK... don't know what site you are looking at, but both the Garden Room and the Windows Dining Room are 5 course meal main dining rooms. You may find this information directly on ncl.com.

Typically you don't need to make reservations, but if you feel so inclined, you may make them for either restaurant.

We've always preferred the Windows dining room as it is quite a bit more open, and has wonderful views out the back of the ship.

The Garden Room is located mid ship and seats about half as many as Windows.

It has been a few years to be relevant, but the service we had at the Windows dining room for dinner and breakfast was very slow. We tried the other one and it was much improved. The problem is Windows is very open and looks nicer vs. the other one has lower ceilings and just seemed cramped.

So if you have slow service in one, try the other.

We liked to alternate nights because the two restaurants had different menus. So we would go to the dining room that had the best menu for that night. We were on the boat for 12 days, so we had plenty of time to test out both. I thought both were similar in ambiance and level of service, you really couldn't go wrong with either. Just pick the menu you like best for that night.

On our Grand Med last August.

We had terrible service in the Garden Room, and it definitely was cramped.

We actually left before getting coffee, asked about dessert or our plates taken away. Never returned.

We loved the ambiance of Windows, the food and service was hit and miss but we ate there several times, for all 3 meals.

We were on the Grand Med. Cruise last spring on NCL Spirit. We really enjoyed the Dining room (Windows). yes it's larger and not so cramped. Mistakenly my husband wore his good shorts to dinner one night in the Windows room and was refused entrance. (Yeah). Garden Restaurant was fine for the shorts. We didn't like the atmosphere in the Garden.

We never made any reservations at either Windows or Garden Restaurants. Only the special restaurants you pay you will need reservations.

We liked the Windows mainly because we found such a great waitress and her staff went over and above for our table nightly. She was a fantastic!

Preferred Windows on our Canary Island cruise last November. Nicer ambiance, piano music, etc. Service was typically better as well. Pretty sure the menus are the same in both restaurants again.

Didn't ever make reservations, but it is just 2 of us. If you are more than 4, reservations are probably the way to go.

Actually, the dining tab in "My NCL" does say that Windows serves a 3 course meal and the Garden Room serves a 5 course meal. Obviously a typo.

We will be on the Spirit starting on April 25th for 12 nights. Really looking forward to this cruise.
