Normandy D Day Tours from Cherbourg

Please provide any recommendations for a private D Day/Normandy Beaches tour from Cherbourg. We'll be in Cherbourg from 9am-2pm in late August. Many thanks!

Your time in port is not that long, so I'm not sure how much ground you'd be able to cover. Whoever you consider using, you'll want to explore that with them.

 

Two years ago, we used Overlord Tours from our port stop in Le Havre. According to their web site, they will also run a private tour from Cherbourg. Our guide was terrific and we had a fantastic day. If you do a search on here, you'll find many positive reviews about them. They are quite pricey, so you'll probably want to get a group together from your Roll Call. They also are a small operation and book up quickly, so don't delay if you are interested in them.

Great! I neglected to include my standard advice to anyone about to visit the D-Day sites, which is that you watch (or re-watch) "The Longest Day." A bit cheesy by today's film standards, but great history, and you'll appreciate your visit even more.

 

(In fact, one of the first things our guide from Overlord Tours asked us was whether anyone had seen "The Longest Day." LOL!)

Yes. He asked for a check for $250 which he returned at the end of the tour.
