Cabin Recommendations for Triumph??

Hi, all,

I tried to open up a thread on the Triumph forum, but there was no prompt to allow me to start a new thread...not sure what i'm doing wrong. Anyway, my friend and I are planning to take a cruise on the Triumph in September and I'm not sure how to go about picking a stateroom. We'd like to be away from too much noise and it is an absolute MUST that we are as far from the smoky areas as possible, as I can't be around it. I'm looking at interior, ocean and balcony options. Thanks so much!

I can give you some advice on where to avoid, based on what you said. For one, do not book a room under the noisy galley (aka kitchen). Those rooms to avoid would be any on deck 2 that run from the midship elevators to the aft elevators. Also, don't book any deck 6 rooms, as those are above the promenade deck. Some parts of the promenade deck have lots of noise & might go late into the night.

On the Triumph especially, avoid the back of the ship on the lower decks (1 & 2), as the ship produces a lot of strange & random sounds/vibrations at all times in that area. The front of the ship on the lower decks will have noise from the waves hitting the bow, although that noise is more consistent. Keep in mind that midship rooms tend to feel less motion than the forward or aft, no matter what level you are on. Also, lower rooms feel less motion than higher rooms.

For an oceanview, I would highly recommend one beneath the midship dining room on deck 2. The dining room is totally empty all night long, and it's carpeting prevents any noise from coming through during the day. The midship dining room is just forward of the midship elevators area, but again, be careful to not wind up below the galley.

For a balcony, I would say to go with a deck 7 room. Those are centrally placed between the daytime activities on deck 9 (pool/waterslide/buffet) & the nighttime activities on decks 3-5 (theater/entertainment/dining rooms). Plus, deck 7 rooms have staterooms both above & below it, which is a good thing. Some people like deck 9 rooms to put them closer to the buffet & pools, but it puts you further away from the other stuff, so it's up to you.

For an interior, you could also go with deck 7 or 9, like with the balcony. Or you could go with deck 2 below the dining room, like with the oceanview.

These suggestions are just a few of many that would work well for you. All rooms & balconies are nonsmoking. If any of these sound like what you would want, then you can study the deck plans & when it's time to book, call up Carnival to help with the booking process. Keep a deck plan pulled up to make sure that you are getting a room in the location that you would prefer.

Thanks so much for this info! We want to go with a balcony, so I think we'll take your advice and book one on Deck 7. I appreciate your help!:)

Lido deck 9 balcony, port side. That eliminates the elevator ride for most of the things you'd do on sea days. Port side is the best for most of the cruises to people watch in Cozumel.

We like those first 10 cabins up front.

I agree about booking deck 7. We were there last year and will be again this year. It is the deck that all the suites are on and we found it to be pretty quite. Last year we were forward and this year we will be midship.

We also found that there could be long waits for the elevator at times (especially during debarkation) and by being on Deck 7, it was only two flights of stairs up or down to get to the decks where we spent most of our time. A couple of times we found it quicker to catch the elevator going up and surprisingly it didn't stop on deck 7 on the way back down.

I agree with BallFour4. We just got off the Triumph on Monday and stayed in 9277. It was between the Atrium elevators and the sliding door to the hot tubs. While we were not on the port side, we thouroughly enjoyed the room. The little "private" hallway was very quiet except the kids next door bouncing balls in the morning.......hopefully they won't be cruising when you go. :) I went out on the balcony when we left Cozumel and could hear the party from further aft on the Lido deck, but when inside our cabin with the doors closed, we couldn't hear that. We did not notice any smell of smoke in the cabin or on the balcony, but got our fill while gambling in the casino.....rainy weather meant even more people at the only "inside" smoking area.......they did have air filters running in the casino, but unless you sat right next to it, you couldn't really tell. Hope this helps!

Looks like we've got some votes for 7 and some for 9...decisions, decisions.....

It depends on the person. For some people, they don't go to any of the nighttime entertainment. All they partake of is the pools & buffet. Deck 9 is a clear choice for them, even though they will have to deal with elevators if they want to get to/from the dining room, and the elevators are so slammed at that time. Possible long waits!

If you plan to partake of everything & you can handle a couple flights of stairs, then deck 7 is clearly the way to go. No elevators needed, except for getting off/on the ship in ports or debarkation. I can handle some stairs, so that's why I prefer deck 7.

For someone who can't handle any stairs but still wants to partake of everything, then deck 9 might have the edge. Just because they won't need to bother with elevators for the daytime stuff. They'll still need it for the nighttime stuff, but they would have needed it from deck 7 also.

Book an "L" shaped balcony cabin. They are far back aft next to the wrap around balconies. I was on Deck 6 which was still fine. 7 would be better if they are still available. The balcony is HUGE and there are 2 big picture windows and the glass patio door. I loved the layout!

Okay, the prices did not decrease so I went ahead an put a room on the 24 hour hold for an oceanview room. I held room 1295. Is that near the location you were referring to for a good room choice? It looks like the oceanview rooms are filling up. I think there were about 7 or 8 rooms to choose from on Deck 1.

We really liked forward cabins on Lido, good location, we were in 9276, less forward.

If cabin 9266 is available it is in a very good location. It is the 1st forward room on the port side.I mean that it is the 1st room just forward of the mid ship rooms.Very quiet and still very near the elevators and the doors leading out to the Lido deck.We have been in that room 2 times and hope we can get it again on our next Triumph cruise.

Travelbug, so far, the best room we have ever had was a cat. 9C because of the size but mostly because of the aft wrap balcony. It was about 75 feet long and now my DH will not cruise unless he gets at least an aft. We had to book an 8M since the 9Cs were all taken for our next cruise. Looking at categories for us has made it easier to select.

For this cruise, we've decided to go with an ocean view room. I currently have a room on Deck 1(1295), per a recommendation on this forum earlier. Any thoughts about this room location?

I personally have never stayed in that cabin but since it is midship and there are cabins above it, I would imagine it would be pretty quite. The only downside is that it is the farthest deck from most of the action. If you don't mind the occasional elevator wait or trek on the stairs, then it's a good cabin choice with a nice low price.

Oops. I was away for a few days. 1295 has rooms above it & a mystery below it, since it's a crew area. Most of the crew areas below are quiet. It is midship & low, which helps with motion. And no part of deck 1 has the galley/kitchen above, as the galley is on deck 3. Some people feel that rooms down on decks 1 & 2 are so far away from everything, but that isn't true. They are so incredibly close to where you get off/on the ship in port & so close to the dining rooms, and these are the times that you don't want to ever mess with elevators. To get up to the pools & buffet, you need an elevator, but there is rarely much of a wait for that, as the crowds are very scattered as to when they go up to or down from there. I love the convenience of the lower decks.

1295 is a good choice for deck 1, but my preference is still deck 2 below the midship dining room. From 2363 to 2323 and from 2360 to 2320 are all below the dining room, so I view those rooms as the best of the best on the ship, not including balconies. The rooms below the lobby are good too, but below the dining room is better. With staterooms below & an empty room during the overnights above, these rooms are great! And keep in mind when searching online, that Carnival's booking engine will only show 10 rooms maximum. There could be more available than what they show. A Carnival phone rep is able to see all available rooms.

Hi, I was away for a few days as well. We ended up booking our cruise Saturday night with a PVP. We ended up selecting room 1330, which was the PVP's recommendation. He said that there would be quiet and also won't feel much motion. What you do think? What makes the rooms you mention that are on Deck 2 the best of the best for you? Just want to compare. Thanks!

Previous poster is correct that 1330 is a connecting room with 1334. You can never predict how quiet or noisy a neighbor will be. That's just a luck of the draw, but noisy neighbors can be heard whether it's a connecting room or not. I still prefer to not have that connecting door in there. You are low & midship, which is a good thing.

The rooms I mentioned on deck 2 are my top choices for an oceanview for many reasons. The dining room is directly above it. I have been below a dining room before, and it is very quiet from above. Even when it's being used, you cannot hear anything. And the entire overnight, it's totally empty. And those rooms are midship, which I like. From deck 2 (and also from 1), I never need an elevator when the elevators are busy: before/after dining & shows, getting off/on the ship. The only real difference between the rooms I mentioned and yours is having the dining room above or having some part of a crew area below. Some of those rooms I mentioned on deck 2 are connecting rooms also.

Best, quietest location for an inside or outside cabin on the ship. We just got off the 11 day Southern caribbean and had absolutely zero noise from the crew deck below us and no noise for the cabins above us. We had a 4B Cabin 1339 and it was great. It was so quiet everytime we walked down the hall to go into our cabin, my husband would say ahh....welcome back to the peaceful deck. LEONARD our room steward was fantastic. You won't be disappointed if you book a room right around 1339, midship. The laundry is right down the hall, not too far , on the same side of the cabin. Don't go to the front of Deck 1 as there was a small odour there at times.
