Does anyone know of a tour company which provides a two or three day escorted, or partly escorted, tour to Igassu Falls from Buenos Aires. I am a single female traveller and would like to visit the falls before embarking my cruise. Thank you to anyone who is able to help me

IMO, as a female who traveled the area solo, there is little value to a tour to this region. It is very easy to do on one's own. The area is quite safe. A travel agency can help you book a flight to IGR airport, or you can easily do it yourself. Even a site such as booking.com can show you various hotels in Puerto Iguazu, Argentina or in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil. Public transportation (bus) can efficiently get you around the area, or you can simply take a taxi, including to cross the border. There are, as you may know, an Argentine side to the park with lots to do, and a Brazilian side from which most of the iconic photos are taken, and the wonderful Bird Park nearby. If you intend to see the Brazilian side, make sure you leave yourself enough time before leaving home to secure a visa if your passport requires you obtain one.

I agree to both. We found the area to be very safe and easy to book on your own.

We did the trip following our cruise because that fit better into our plans than pre-cruise but that doesn't matter.

If you decide on doing the tour before your cruise:

You'll arrive at the international airport EZE in Buenos Aires and you'll have to transfer to the national airport Aeroparque if you don't want to stay in Buenos Aires itself first.

It's easy to get to the second airport: Exiting the transfer area you'll find booths of taxi operators. We used Taxi Ezeiza : can be booked online which we did - very reasonable prices, pay at the airport when you arrive, somebody helps you with your luggage and accompanies you to the taxi outside.

We booked LAN Airlines online for the 2-hour trip to Iguazu airport - good airline, clean and comfortable and safe, several departures a day to Iguazu.

At IGR airport ( that's the Argentinian side) there were again booths to order a private driver which we did. We had pre-booked the Sheraton hotel which is rather expensive but well worth the price because it is the only hotel INSIDE the National Park und thus VERY convenient, just a few steps away from the falls, comfortable, good breakfast and dinner.

We stayed for two nights, we could have booked a trip to the Brazilian side but found so much to do by walking the different paths, using the free small railway inside the park etc. that we didn't do that.

We had pre-booked the same driver for the return trip to the airport and flew back to Buenos Aires. We had another stay in the city then but I think you could also book a flight for the same day when your cruise leaves. Another taxi will bring you the short trip from the airport (AEP again) to the port terminal.

We found the whole trip easy to organize by ourselves and even with the expensive hotel it was about half the price we would have paid for an organized tour.

I applaud your decision to visit Iguazu Falls. They are spectacular! I agree with the others that you don't need a tour. The things that you will need are:

1. Airline reservations. I prefer LAN over Aerolineas Argentina.

2. Hotel reservations. The Sheraton is inside the national park and you can't beat it for convenience. You can save money by not getting a falls view room. The rationale is that you are not in your room long enough to make it worth the extra cost. When you have breakfast downstairs each morning, there is an outstanding view of Garganta del Diablo (The Devil's Throat).

3. A taxi to/from the hotel which you can easily arrange at the airport once you arrive.
