twoblklabs Posted February 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2015 Hello fellow Canucks, I just called Princess and added some OBC at an exchange rate of 1.10, currently the FX rate is about 1.26 a great savings. My cruise was booked using CDN dollars so I do not know if this will work if you used USD... I called the main Princess cruise line.. what will happen is once I board I will pick up my "gift card" and add it to my OBC which can be used for anything.. excursions/beverage etc etc.... Cayoooga Posted July 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 9, 2015 I plan on making the pre-cruise Gratuity Pre-Payment on-line through "My Princess" @ the current $1.10 FX on Princess. The current FX anywhere else is <$1.28. Planning also to make the pre-cruise purchase of "Onboard Credits" for expected expenses while on board also through "My Princess" @ the current $1.10 FX on Princess. My question is for those with some experience, I have the option to purchase more OBC's above what I expect is needed and/or Casino Credits. I am wondering if I can open a Casino account and cash out (withdraw) my excess cash for spending in ports i.e. private excursion, etc. Any insight is great appreciated. Rare MicCanberra Posted July 25, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 25, 2015 If you want any, get it now. We have a similar rate here in Australia but for 2016 sailings the rate is increasing from the $1.10 to around $1.28.:(
rxs148 Posted September 7, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 7, 2015 Same on NCL ... but it depends when you booked your cruise and yes it has to be in CDN $$ I am buying OBC at $1.11 on Feb 2016 cruise that I booked in APR 2015. Some other cruises are confirming OBC purchases at $1.19 with bookings this summer.

Same exchange rate for Royal. We'll definitely be purchasing some OBC at this rate with the current exchange rate is 1.33...which is awful. We've booked one excursion ahead of time to ensure we get our spot, but otherwise, we'll probably use OBC since this is much better.
