Cruise Cash vs Gift Cards

My wife and I are heading off later this week on a cruise on Glory. We had planned on buying some carnival gift cards (fuel perks), but now i am seeing information regarding cruise cash. Cruise cash is only valid for our one cruise, so what would be a better route? Bring the gift cards aboard and pay at the front desk or buy the cruise cash ahead of time.

Thanks

I would buy the gift cards. If for some reason you can't possibly foresee you don't go, you can use the gift cards at any time. Cruise cash is non refundable and non transferable. Only advantage I see with cruise cash is that it's automatically applied to your account. However you can easily apply gift cards at guest services or by using a Kiosk. Enjoy your trip.

I just bought $500 in GC through CITI Easy Deals and got it for $450. They also have $50 and $100 GCs for $45 and $90 respectively. So if you have a CITI card and reward points you never use this is a good way to used them.

Why would you even consider something that if not used on that cruise is lost, when there are alternatives, I cannot understand why anyone would ever use cruise cash, I no the odds are long on not spending or not making your cruise but it does happen and if it did you've lost even more:confused:

It's a no brainer when you save 10% buying it and you can always cash it out via the casino. Not that difficult. As far as "not making your cruise", I know I'm not worried about that, but if I did I would use it on the next cruise.

The poster you quoted was referring to cruise cash, not gift cards that can be purchased for 10% discount. GUT2407 was right. Cruise cash is too risky but alot of people prefer it simply because it's automatic and requires no work to have applied after purchase.
