Miramar - Pembroke Pines (FLL)

Is Miramar - Pembroke Pines a realistic area to stay if flying into FLL, but cruising out of Miami the next day? I'm assuming we would need a cab vs finding a hotel w/ shuttle from the airport.

Are there decent restaurants and a place to grab last minute forgotten items?

No. It is at least 40 minutes out of the way. Pembroke Pines is way west of both FLL and the POM. A cab would cost you a fortune and I don't know of any hotel that would shuttle.

Miramar and Pembroke Pines are suburban traffic-choked nightmares. But they are chockablock with franchise restaurants and have a Walgreens or CVS on virtually every street corner. Your cab rides from FLL to there and from there to PortMiami will easily total $150, so the savings on room and transport as compared to shuttling straight from FLL to a downtown Miami hotel need be substantial.
