artvlay Posted April 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2015 Is there a bus that goes from the ship to the town? If not, what are the options to getting there to just walk around? And costs?
Desdichado62 Posted April 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2015 I don't know if your cruise line offers a shuttle bus (likely they will) but it all depends on where your ship docks. Anyway I recommend you to read the older threads since most of the information already have been posted: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/search.php?searchid=69908822

Desdichado62 Posted April 7, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 7, 2015 Thank you for your advice. The ship is docking in an area that begins with an "A" That would be Arendal. Anyway the link in my previous post doesn't seem to work so here are a few older threads. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2187425&highlight=gothenburg http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=566055&highlight=gothenburg http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2145412&highlight=gothenburg http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2033433&highlight=gothenburg http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2069947&highlight=gothenburg http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2078045&highlight=gothenburg http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2075579&highlight=gothenburg

Desdichado62 Posted February 2, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2017 (edited) There will be changes in Gothenburg regarding the Frihamnen berths. From next year, the ships that berths at Frihamnen will move to Amerikaskjulet at Stigbergskajen which is where the old America boats used to leave from. This is because the city of Gothenburg have decided (again) that they no longer wants to be a martime/port city so they have decided to replace Frihamnen with apartments and offices. Ships with a maximum length of 225m will berth here, bigger ships will have to berth at Arendal. http://www.gp.se/nyheter/g%C3%B6teborg/ny-amerikaterminal-i-g%C3%B6teborg-1.4140976 https://www.portofgothenburg.com/news-room/press-releases/america-cruise-terminal--new-location-for-cruise-ships/ https://www.google.com/maps/place/57%C2%B042'01.0%22N+11%C2%B055'54.0%22E/@57.6986118,11.9299302,674m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d57.700278!4d11.931667 For those of you who are coming in on smaller ships, it will be an improvement since public transport are available very close to the terminal. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/57.700278,11.931667/G%C3%B6teborg+Stigbergstorget/@57.6987136,11.9333264,328m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m14!4m13!1m5!3m4!1m2!1d11.9325948!2d57.6986359!3s0x464ff348edd927e9:0xe7fc64e4850bfec1!1m5!1m1!1s0x464ff34898b43ccb:0x35ee71ec8416dc35!2m2!1d11.9349965!2d57.6989687!3e2 I suspect that it will be possible to walk on the right/eastern side of Sjöfartsmuseet but I don't know.
