Project Edge class.

With regard to the Edge Class, it has been mooted that there will be no

main dining room, just a Buffet and Specialty restaurants with charges

ranging from $10 to $75.

Of course Suite Guests will be able to eat anywhere :D

A couple of people around the Weyer Werft location indicated that the Quantum Class of ships being delivered to Royal Caribbean, were originally planned for Celebrity. They just added the rock wall and converted a few spaces to make them more RCL like. The buffet looks just like the S-class and the dining venues are much more upscale compared to their other ships.

We are going to give the Anthem a try in June. I too, think Celebrity will go to a "classed" ship, with no main dining room. I have mixed feelings about this return to classed levels of cruising. Grills on Cunard, Haven on NCL, Yacht Club on MSC, and Suite Life on Celebrity. Once this Minion gets shut out of X% of the ship, I'm out.

Enjoy!

We spoke with the Hotel Manager on Reflection last week, and he said that the first new ship will be in 2017. It will be larger than the M-Class ships, but smaller than the S-Class, and will have a larger number of Suites. The plans are to have more public space, but less passengers. These two new ships will sail to "exotic" destinations, according to him.

The initial announcement said that it would carry 2900 passengers, slightly more then Solstice, with a slightly smaller displacement. A Solstice ship has a displacement of around 121,000.

From the initial press release.

"The two 2,900-guest, 117,000-gross-registered-ton ships, developed under the project name EDGE will build upon the modern luxury experience of the brand's Millennium and Solstice class vessels."
