Shore Excursions from La Spezia for large family

We will be in port in early June. We are traveling as large family of seven with a grandparent and four children ages 8-17 years. From researching, it looks like a private tour to Florence would involve extensive driving. Is there something we could do ourselves that would not involve large amounts of walking for the grandparent? I was looking at Pisa, Lucca or Cinque Terre. Is there any easily accessible transportation to those locations?

It is a very short (25 minutes, or less, depending on which station you get off at) train trip into the Cinque Terre. I would think the kids would like that, coupled with a ferry ride along the coast. It is impressive.

You can catch the ferry in 4 out of 5 towns in the Cinque Terre. Or you can catch it at La Spezia. Check this out:

It is - we did that sort of thing but rain scuppered my plans to walk from Vernazza - Monterrosso and get a train back to LS and I bailed out from Vernazza. Hope you have better weather ! All the best, Tony
