Shuttle Bus v. Taxi to Dover Castle

Hi - I tried searching for this information and couldn't find recent info. I know the shuttle from cruise port to Dover Castle is L4 or $7 pp round trip. We are a family of 4. Can anyone tell me an estimate of what catching a cab would cost? I am sure it would be less expensive, just what to know details.

When we sailed out if Dover we used Dover Taxis for transportation from Heathrow to Canterbury and from Canterbury to Dover. They actually did a 4 hour tour of the area for us. Don't know what they would charge to the castle but they were very good a reliable. Our driver was Malcolm. He was great. Go to their website dovertaxes.com and check them out.

If you use a taxi, then you need to book the return as well as there is no guarantee that you would find one outside the castle.

We did a short tour on the way to the castle for 15 GBP on the return it was under 10 GBP

We just had the people at the entrance booth call a taxi when we were ready to leave ...do leave some time for the taxi to arrive I think we had to wait about 20 min
